Draft day is here!

‘After a free agency spending spree that saw the Bills address many of the team’s biggest needs, tonight is less about filling a need and more about finding the best talent out there. The Bills organization, especially general manager Brandon Beane, have said as much throughout the long process leading up to tonight’s draft.’

‘Metcalf measured in at 6-foot-3, 228 lbs. and is widely belived to be the best wide receiver prospect in this year’s draft. The Mississippi native was limited to just seven games in his third and final season last year at Ole Miss due to a neck injury; but, still managed to record 26 catches for 569 yards and five touchdowns. While the numbers aren’t eye-popping, Metcalf is highly-touted prospect due to his strong showing at the combine and incredible physique.’

‘With the signing of T.J. Yeldon last week, there’s just no need for the Bills to draft a running back now, even though the prevailing thought (including from yours truly) has been that they needed to do that and get younger at the position. Yeldon represents exactly that. He’s only 25. In fact, he was the youngest of all the unrestricted free agents in this year’s RB group. That means the Bills signed the oldest free agent RB (Frank Gore, soon to be 36) and the youngest (Yeldon). And they still have LeSean McCoy, Marcus Murphy, Keith Ford, Senorise Perry, and former rugby player Christian Wade, who doesn’t count against the roster since he was allocated as part of the International Pathways Program.’

‘It’s an honor to represent the Bills anytime you do something like this nationally and then at the draft is really cool. I’m really excited to get down to Nashville. It will be a quick drive for me from Louisville but [it’s] always fun to get down to Nashville…I know a bunch of other guys who are heading down there to make picks as well. It will be a lot of fun to connect [with them], but it is an honor to represent the Bills and the Bills have traditionally, these last few years, done really well in the draft. So, I’m looking forward to seeing who they select in the first round. I’ll be announcing the second-rounder.’

‘“Their scheme is great and it fits me,” Oliver said. “They need a three-technique linemen and if it’s me that they call on then ‘hey I’m coming.’ Kyle Williams was great for them and I would like to watch his film and see how he lasted so long. I think I can come in right away, step up to the plate, and play. They have a unique situation where a guy retired and they need someone to come in right away and play, that would be a blessing.”’
