‘Peterman appeared in eight games with the Bills over the past two seasons, throwing for 548 yards, three touchdowns and 12 interceptions.’

Bills to start rookie QB Allen in Week 12
‘”Josh is our starter when he’s healthy,” McDermott said Monday. “His development is important for him and important for us as we move forward. . . . It’s important that he gets as many reps as he can get in live game action.”‘
Buffalo Bills cut ties with interception-prone QB Nathan Peterman
‘Among all NFL quarterbacks since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger with as many pass attempts, Peterman’s interception rate of 9.23 percent is the third-highest, behind those of Kim McQuilken (10.7) and Don Horn (9.34). Peterman’s 32.5 passer rating is the third-lowest among quarterbacks with at least 130 pass attempts since the merger, behind those of McQuilken (17.9) and Scott Bull (24.8).’
Sean McDermott says Josh Allen will start if healthy
‘”Josh is our starter, when healthy, and his development is important for him and for us moving forward,” McDermott said Monday. “Getting experience — you’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks this season play — and it’s important that he gets as many reps as he can get in live game action.”‘
Bills announce the release of Nathan Peterman, ending his error-filled time with the team
‘Peterman had arguably the worst game in NFL history in his first start, getting intercepted five times in 14 pass attempts while throwing for only 66 yards. He was benched for Taylor at halftime and Taylor resumed the starting job until getting injured later in the season. For the season, Peterman completed just 24 of 49 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and the aforementioned five picks.’
Bills Release QB Nathan Peterman
‘Peterman was a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft. This season, he has gone 44–for–81 with 296 yards, one touchdown and seven interceptions in four games. He won the starting job out of preseason, but failed to carry his performance over to the regular season.’

Bills release QB Nathan Peterman
‘Peterman first made national headlines when he threw five interceptions in a half at the Los Angeles Chargers last year after McDermott started him in favor of Tyrod Taylor.’
Five strikes, you’re out
‘Sean McDermott did what? I couldn’t believe it when I heard it. The Bills were benching Tyrod Taylor for a 5th round rookie in the middle of a legit playoff race. I had accepted what Tyrod was, and was okay with that. Turning to a 5th round rookie in that spot seemed insane. That’s not a move a 5-4 team makes, that’s something a 1-8 team does. Nobody, not even I could have predicted how epically awful Peterman’s first NFL start would go.’
McDermott: “Josh is our starter, and will remain our starter when healthy”
‘”He has had no setbacks. It has just been a natural progression of a young player coming back from an injury, and we knew we had the bye week coming up… I thought he was playing his best game of the year [at the time of the injury] and made his best throw of the season on the play he was injured.”‘
McDermott: Allen is the Bills’ starting quarterback when healthy
‘“Josh is our starter when healthy and his development is important for him and for us as we move forward, getting experience,” McDermott told reporters. “It’s important that he gets as many reps as he can get in live game action,” McDermott said, adding “I thought Matt [Barkley] performed extremely well yesterday. There were certainly some plays he’d like to have back, but to come in and do what he did on a short run-up basically to it was very impressive.”’
Who were those guys?
‘All-in-all, it was an enjoyable day of Bills football. What does it mean in terms of where this season will go? Probably nothing. It sure looked like the Jets had given up on their season, perhaps knowing their head coach will soon be out of a job. I doubt the Bills will get themselves back into the wild card race, despite the fact the schedule looks very favorable for the final six games. But, hey, it was fun to watch the Bills and it was great to see points, lots of points from an offense that was on pace for the lowest points per-game average in franchise history.’
Buffalo Bills release QB Nathan Peterman
‘Of course, Peterman is the ultimate reason that the Bills released him on Monday night. But, the coaching staff and front office certainly should get a piece of the blame, too. They repeatedly put the young quarterback in the situations that ended up in worst-case scenarios, without leaving themselves any other option but to play him.’

McDermott: If healthy, Allen to start for Bills after the bye week
‘”Avoiding the the turnovers is big and giving our receivers a chance. I thought we had some plays there were made on the ball, right from the start with Robert’s catch, third down catches by Zay,” head coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Monday. “There were a lot of guys involved in that. I felt like it opened the running game a little bit as well.”‘
