‘“I love his fire,” McDermott said. “He personifies Buffalo, right? He’s a hard-worker, blue-collar kid and loves to compete.”’

Undrafted rookie Robert Foster leads Bills in receiving yards for second consecutive game
‘“He certainly made some plays down the field,” McDermott said, “but the way he blocked in the run game, he ran some other types of routes as well, some short intermediate routes that got other people open and so we’ve got to continue to play fast on offense and move the football.”’
Bills’ Josh Allen leads satisfying victory, Jaguars’ Jalen Ramsey eats crow
‘“The good thing about the world we live in is everybody can have an opinion. And, um, you know, I stick by my opinions, usually,” Ramsey said in the postgame locker room, not quite retracting his insult. “He hurt us with his feet. He did enough for their team to get a win. That’s really what matters at the end of the day, so it doesn’t matter what I said or anything like that. I’m sure that’s what he was thinking on his side. It doesn’t matter. People have opinions every day. They can have opinions, but it’s about what you go out there and do, what he went out there and did for their team is get a win, so, you can’t really say anything about it.”’
Jay Skurski’s observations: Big brawl shifts momentum to Bills in win
‘A massive brawl erupted late in the third quarter Sunday, with the end result benefiting the home team in a 24-21 win. Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette started throwing punches at Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson, who returned the favor. That led to both players being ejected – a trade the Bills happily welcomed after Fournette had carried 18 times for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns up to that point.’
Plays that Shaped the Game: Robert Foster burned Cover 3 on deep over
‘Credit Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll with dialing up a home run -– and Josh Allen with making an elite throw — on the 75-yard touchdown pass that gave the Bills a 14-0 lead in the second quarter.’
Quarterly Report: Bills win the battle at quarterback
‘Hockey Night at New Era Field. With 2:49 left in the quarter, the Bills lost Shaq Lawson and the Jaguars lost Leonard Fournette to disqualifications for fighting. What a trade-off for the Bills. It was like Rob Ray taking Mario Lemieux off the ice with equal, five-minute majors.’
Bills-Jaguars Report Card: Big plays tilt game in Buffalo’s favor
‘The Bills had no answers for Leonard Fournette – or anybody else – in the first half. Jacksonville gained a whopping 8.2 yards per carry in the first half, piling up 173 yards on 21 carries. That’s the most the Bills have given up in the first half of a game since allowing 174 to the Seahawks in 2012. The Bills were out of their gaps and missing tackles far too much early. To Buffalo’s credit, things got better after Fournette was kicked out. Jordan Poyer led the defense with 10 tackles, including one for a loss.’
Josh Allen’s legs help Bills defeat Jaguars 24-21
‘Although the field was repeatedly littered by yellow laundry, the Bills and Jaguars traded punches – at one point, quite literally – for well over three hours and Buffalo, in Josh Allen’s return to action, ultimately pulled out a 24-21 victory over Jacksonville.’
Josh Allen goes from ‘trash’ to treasure as Jalen Ramsey praises his running ability
‘“The good thing about the world we live in is everyone can have an opinion,” said Ramsey. “I stick by my opinions, usually. It doesn’t matter what I said, I’m sure that’s what he was thinking on his side. You can have opinions, but it’s about what you go out there and do and what he did was go out there for his team and get a win. I know he ran the ball really well and hurt us with his feet. Passing, it didn’t feel like a lot of opportunities.”’
Buffalo Bills brawl might have helped Sean McDermott’s young team come together
‘Not to defend the officiating, which made the game unwatchable at times. But when 23 penalty flags are thrown, enough for referee Walt Coleman and his crew to develop tennis elbow, it’s safe to assume the players weren’t interested in any Sportsmanship of the Year awards.’
Report card
‘Let’s face it, Blake Bortles is brutal. He poses almost no threat as a passer, so I’ll temper my excitement about the Bills’ performance. He had 79 yards prior to the Jaguars’ late TD drive after Buffalo had taken a 24-14 lead and finished with 123 yards. True, some of his struggles were due to the Bills playing well, but honestly, the Jaguars were running so well, they really didn’t need to pass. Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano both had interceptions on passes that were tipped, so those were not entirely Bortles’ fault. Buffalo’s pass rush was strong late in the game, led by Kyle Williams who had 1.5 sacks.’
Flexing, fighting Bills top Jags
‘“Our defense stepped up … they started with the ball inside the one and ended up trying a field goal, and they missed. I thought that gave us a spark.”’
Pollock: Allen’s inspired performance had a franchise look
‘And while we still don’t know, and won’t for a while, whether the former Wyoming star is the “franchise QB” Buffalo has long been seeking, the early returns are encouraging.’
Notebook: Bills sack Bortles three times as Jags’ losing streak continues
‘The initial sack of the game was recorded by veteran Buffalo tackle Kyle Williams, who dumped Bortles. Later, Williams (5 sacks on the season) and end Jerry Hughes (team-leading 6) combined to sack Bortles. Buffalo’s final sack was logged by outside linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, giving him 5.5 on the year.’
Welcome back, Josh Allen: 8 observations from rookie’s return to Bills (videos)
‘Allen completed passes to eight different receivers — two of them, Isaiah McKenzie and Deonte Thompson, he was playing with for the first time — and took care of the football. The Bills had two interceptions by the defense and the offense, under Allen’s direction, didn’t have a single turnover in the game.’
