‘The bookmakers weren’t overly impressed as the Bills open as a 8.5-point underdog on the road next Sunday against the Houston Texans. The line quickly moved to 10 points.’

Defense carries Bills to victory
‘Josh Allen mustered only 82 yards through the air in the game, with an interception. The offense was a mess — at least minus one impressive touchdown run by Allen on the Bills’ first drive. Allen deserves as close to zero credit for the win as a quarterback can earn in a victory — but don’t expect him to mind one bit.’
Buffalo Bills Week 5 Report Card: McCoy, Bills top Titans 13-12
‘McCoy and Ivory are a great two-headed monster. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll just needs to find a way to get them more involved.’
Meiler: Time to take the focus off Allen
‘The Bills’ quarterback isn’t good enough (again, as a rookie) to hit passes in tight coverage, his receivers aren’t skilled enough to create quick separation and his offensive line can’t provide the extra second or two in protection it takes for throwing windows to grow. There’s also little reason to believe any of those things will change without an influx of talent, meaning Allen will remain a mystery until the Bills can overhaul the offense this offseason.’
Bills top Titans in spite of meagre QB contribution
‘The sunnier take is the Bills beat the Titans because of a stout defence that, since Week 2, is genuinely gaining in confidence, ferocity and effectiveness by the half – and also because of a rededication by offensive play-caller Brian Daboll to a previously under-utilized run game.’

Bills beat Titans 13-12 on Hauschka’s 46-yard field goal
‘The Titans struggled on offense in failing to build off a 26-23 overtime win over the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. After winning each of its past three by three points, Tennessee (3-2) found itself on the losing end of a tightly played game in which the kickers accounted for six field goals and the teams combined for 444 yards offense.’
Bills rediscover running attack in 13-12 win over Titans
‘”They told me they were going to get me the ball this game, that was the main focus,” McCoy said. “Today we stuck with it.”‘
Hauschka kicks Bills past Titans
‘The Bills reached into the 1970s for its game plan Sunday. They established the run and stopped the Titans from doing the same.’
Report: Bills to sign QB Anderson to back up Allen
‘The 35-year-old Anderson had a Pro Bowl season with the Cleveland Browns in 2007, when he passed for 3,787 yards and 29 touchdowns.’
Bills expected to sign veteran QB Derek Anderson as backup to rookie Josh Allen
‘No deal has been finalized, and the Bills will have to make at least one roster move Monday to accommodate Anderson. The Bills also may have to assess their roster needs if more injuries surface from Sunday’s game against the Titans.’
How Do the Bills Keep Pulling Off Upsets?
‘With the Titans being a zone-based defense but having three quality man-to-man corners (Logan Ryan, Malcolm Butler and Adoree’ Jackson), plus a run defense that was without top linebacker Wesley Woodyard and ranked 27th coming in, Buffalo committed to pounding the rock. They ran on 27 of their first 36 snaps, and on 43 of 64 snaps overall. LeSean McCoy, who came in with 21 attempts for 85 yards in three games on the season, matched that 85-yard season total on Sunday, on 24 carries.’
NFL free agency rumors: Bills expected to sign veteran QB Derek Anderson
‘The 35-year-old signal caller spent the last seven seasons with the Panthers. He threw seven touchdowns and five interceptions in 25 games during his time in Carolina.’
Bills beat the Titans 13-12 in defensive struggle to improve to 2-3
‘While the Titans added two more field goals by Succop to finally take the lead, 12-10, the Bills got one more drive to come back to win the game. With a large dose of LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory, the Bills ate the last 4:43 off the clock to set up Stephen Hauschka for the 46 yard game winning field goal.’
The Bills pull one out in their first close game of the season
‘It is so tiring watching amateur hour called the Buffalo Bills receivers. Andre Holmes is a great special teams player, but a horrendous wide receiver. Leading 10-9, Allen threw to Holmes who let the ball hit him right in the hands and then be intercepted.’
