QB Anderson feels comfortable in mentor role with Bills

‘“Any leg injury for DBs is tough just because we do so much running,” said Hyde. “We open up the hips and break off of feet and ankles. Leg injuries are tough. So I’m trying to get back, but we’re trying to play it smart. It’s still early in the season and you don’t want to go out there and think you’re loosening it up, but then you end up pulling it or straining it some more. It’s one of those tough injuries.”’

You look at the guys who were ready to play on Sunday. Guy that was called up from the practice squad in Dean Marlowe. Phillip Gaines came in and did a nice job. Credit to the staff and the players in that regard.”’

‘“I feel like they want to get more of a veteran presence in there,” Quinn said. “At this point, (Peterman) feels like he could probably compete and try to play and he’s not that same type of mentor and a guy who’s seen it all, done it all. He’s seen very little football and the little that he has played, it hasn’t gone well. So I’m sure, somewhere in Peterman’s mind, he wants the opportunity to play and play somewhere else.’

I think highly of Derek, having been around Derek in Carolina and how he not only played, but also was a primary backup for us and helped Cam in his learning curve as well. Again, I was on the defensive side, so I wasn’t in the room there, but he’s a good quarterback that has played and also backed up, so he’s got some good wisdom stored up in that brain.”‘
