‘The running back exited after only two carries and only gained one yard.’

Bills blown out again, this time by the Colts
‘Starting a quarterback in Derek Anderson, who was vacationing on a beach two weeks ago with his family, is never a good thing and the offensive game plan took another hit on Buffalo’s opening drive.’
Defense “lays an egg” in Indy
‘”Everything. Everything went wrong,” Hyde said. “Can’t make excuses. That was just an awful performance by us. It doesn’t matter what we did in the past few games. You’re only as good as your last game and we went out there and just laid an egg.”‘
Bills Decompress: Time to see 2018 for what it is
‘We know what the Bills defense is. And Sunday against the Colts… wasn’t it.’
Game recap: Bills fall to Colts on the road
‘The Bills’ defense largely struggled to stop the Colts’ offense throughout the day, allowing 376 net yards. Andrew Luck completed 17 passes for 156 yards and four touchdowns. Marlon Mack ran for 126 yards on 19 attempts.’
Top 3 things we learned from Bills-Colts
‘Ivory ran hard all afternoon often fighting through initial contact for extra yardage. He finished Sunday’s game with 81 yards on 16 carries to average 5.1 per rush.’
What they’re saying: Rebounding after the Colts Loss
‘“Coming out in the second half, we just tried to get some momentum. There was never a time when guys were bickering. We just came in the huddle and I said ‘Let’s do this one play at a time. You can only do it one play at a time.’ It’s cliché, but realistically that’s how you build momentum. Overall, the energy was positive.”’
Josh Allen heads up Bills inactives
‘“The great part about it right now is [that] he can watch a veteran handle things the way it’s supposed to be handled,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “This will give Josh a front row seat to experience that.”’
Bills Today: Lorenzo loving the leadership Derek Anderson brings
‘“I played against Derek when he was at Oregon State when I was at Cal, so we go way back,” Alexander said. “We’ve crossed paths as far as just being in the league and talking to each other. Good dude.”’
Bills’ Derek Anderson can learn from those who have started on short notice
‘“And I think it’s because everybody understands the urgency of what’s happening, everybody being the players. Everybody needs to play to their abilities and play good football. And when everybody can do that, it makes the quarterback’s job a little bit easier. Not that I want to say it’s ever easy, but it definitely takes a little off the quarterback when everybody’s playing up to their potential.”’
Pregame primer: 5 things to watch when Bills visit Colts
‘Coach Sean McDermott said the Bills are still “working through” who will be back for punts. McDermott was not pleased with rookie Ray-Ray McCloud, who fumbled twice in Week 6, one on a kickoff, one on a punt, losing the latter. McCloud, who did not make the trip to Indianapolis for a personal matter, was benched after his fumbles for sure-handed safety Micah Hyde. That’s not an ideal situation for the team, though, as Hyde is much too valuable on defense to be subjected to the punishment that punt returners can take. Perhaps the Bills give Marcus Murphy another crack at the job. He figures to be active Sunday with Taiwan Jones out because of a neck injury.’
Bills-Colts scouting report: Indianapolis’ edge on special teams could be difference
‘Colts 17, Bills 13.’
Play to Watch: Colts’ defensive line slants
‘On this play, Colts defensive tackle Margus Hunt (92) and defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad (97) crashed inside and took out three Texans blockers. That left linebacker Anthony Walker (50) free to loop around and stop the zone run off right tackle. The Texans’ left tackle (74) wanted to move out and get a piece of Walker. But he was unable to disengage from Muhammad in time.’
One-on-One Coverage: Bills’ Kyle Williams ‘not here to stick around for nothing’
‘You can’t say, “OK, we had a great week of prep last week, it’s going to carry us over this week.” That’s just not how it works. You can look around the league, you have six, seven, eight teams that won last week, then lost this week. Sustained success is a grind in this league.’
Jay Skurski’s Bills Mailbag: The offense can’t get worse, can it?
‘Even if he doesn’t return or struggles when he does, though, I still don’t believe the Bills would move on from Allen so soon. They’ll justify that by saying his injury didn’t give them time for a full evaluation – which is fair – or by rationalizing that Allen will look better with a stronger supporting cast. Again, that could be true.’
