‘“This is a tough defense and people had been trying to spread them out and it hasn’t been very successful,” fullback Patrick DiMarco said. “So we said, ‘Screw it. Let’s run at them, let’s see what they’ve got.’ And we did that and we did it well.”’

Only stat that matters to Josh Allen? First come-from-behind win
‘“The look in his eye, he was, in my opinion, very in control of the situational football that was going on. He played what I would consider a smart game for the most part.”’
Jason Wolf: Bills’ opportunistic defense fuels another surprising victory
‘The Bills scored 10 points off the three turnovers, all of which occurred on Tennessee’s side of the field. It would have been more if not for a bizarre botched field goal. And the forced fumble they didn’t recover – it squirted out of bounds after Jerry Hughes sacked Marcus Mariota on third down – helped short-circuit a late Tennessee drive that ended in a field goal rather than a touchdown.’
Observations: ‘Hausch Money’ comes through when it counts for Bills
‘“It was a good kick. It wasn’t the best one of the year, but it was good and it got the job done,” he said. “It’s a situation where you know it’s an important kick. Obviously you’re going to be excited about it. I want that opportunity. So when I’m out there, I just try and put a good swing on it. That’s all you can do. I don’t think there’s anybody that’s not going to feel any excitement about a kick like that, right?”’
Plays that Shaped the Game: McDermott building impressive turnover trend
‘The Bills’ takeaways lead the plays that shaped the game…’
Quarterly Report: Opening script gets Bills off to fast start
‘Matchup watch: Vlad Ducasse vs. Jurrell Casey. The Titans’ Pro Bowl defensive tackle had a tackle for loss of Chris Ivory in the third quarter and a 4-yard stuff of LeSean McCoy in the fourth. But the roly-poly, 315-pound Titan did not get a sack and didn’t dominate as much as he does some weeks. Ducasse walled him off on several Bills runs.’
Bills-Titans Report Card: Running game, defense earn high marks
‘llen finished 10 of 19 for just 82 yards and one interception. He missed a couple of easy throws and otherwise displayed some shaky accuracy. The wide receivers were again underwhelming. Zay Jones led the team with three catches for 20 yards. Kelvin Benjamin had just one catch for 11 yards, while Andre Holmes did not make a catch on two targets. He had the ball bounce off him on a nice throw by Allen in the fourth quarter, which led to an interception. The longest completion of the day was just 13 yards, to McCoy.’
Winner, winner chicken wing dinner! Bills shock Titans on last-second field goal
‘It was ugly in many ways for Allen, but he completed two key passes on the winning drive which extended 47 yards in 11 plays. Allen finished 10 of 19 for just 82 yards, but the Bills rushed for 144 yards, led by LeSean McCoy who had 85, matching his output from the first three games he played.’
Report: Bills set to sign free agent veteran QB Derek Anderson to mentor Josh Allen
‘For his career, Anderson has enjoyed scant success in the NFL. He is 20-27 as a starter and has completed only 54.1 percent of his passes with 60 touchdowns and 60 interceptions. Given those numbers, the Bills would certainly rather he didn’t have to play, and they are bringing him in to provide Allen some guidance, something current backup quarterback Nathan Peterman – in just his second NFL season – clearly can’t do.’
Another big day for the Bills defense, but at some point, the offense has to follow suit
‘McDermott essentially said the same thing. “It’s a good team win, first and foremost. Defense did a good job to give us chances, they took the ball away. We’re a young football team that’s developing and evolving. Our offense came back and put a big-time drive together to win the game. They should get some confidence from that.”’
Bills quarterback Josh Allen’s stats were ugly but he doesn’t care one bit
‘With the game on the line, Bills’ offensive coordinator Brian Daboll wasn’t about to put the outcome in Allen’s hands when the safest strategy was using McCoy’s and Ivory’s legs.’
Report card
‘That one falls in the category of “a win is a win” as the Bills out-uglied the Titans for a 13-12 victory Sunday at New Era Field. The Bills defense carried the day by forcing three turnovers and holding the Titans to 221 yards and no touchdowns. And then the offense, which struggled most of the day and scored its first 10 points due primarily to two of the turnovers, came through at the end with a game-winning drive on the legs of LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory. The Bills are 2-3, which is a whole lot better than 1-4, which is the way it was looking there before the surprising finish.’
‘D’-lightful: Bills top Titans, 13-12
‘After being blown out in their three losses, the Bills, now 2-3, resorted to smash-mouth offense and bend-but-don’t-break defense to beat one of the conference’s better teams while creating interesting standings in the AFC East.’
Titans ‘very frustrated’ after loss to Bills stops win streak
‘“We didn’t do a good enough job of stopping the run when we had to (Buffalo ran for 144 yards on 43 carries),” Vrabel, the former Patriots linebacker, added. “So it’s no secret why you lose. If you don’t play good in this league every week you’re going to lose.”’
Pollock: Bills do just enough to record much-needed win
‘BUT, OVER the years, the Bills have lost dozens of games via mistakes and/or bad fortune, and this time they parlayed the breaks into a victory over a team that was 3-1 and coming in off an overtime victory against the Super Bowl champion Eagles only a week earlier.’
