‘“Some of the things that he brings here is that kind of culture, that attitude and then the smarts, making guys accountable,” McCoy said. “I think so, honestly. When he first got here just talking to him and seeing how he thinks — I’ve been around some smart coaches offensively and the way they scheme things up, the way they want to find mismatches and take advantage of it — it’s not so simple. It’s an offense that you have to think a little bit. … I think the special coordinators are the coaches that can put you in plays to be successful as far as not running the play in to a bad look.”’

Mark Gaughan’s X’s and O’s: Ravens know who’s got the beef
‘Remember the season opener in Baltimore two years ago. The Bills lost, 13-7, and were held to 11 first downs. McCoy managed 2.7 yards a carry.’
How we see it: Predictions for Ravens-Bills in Week 1
‘It’s hard to find an area in this game where the Bills have an edge.’
What He Said: Daboll on Peterman, Allen, offensive line concerns
‘I think it’s important for the quarterback that’s playing that he has a firm grasp, that he really has a comfort level with the plays that we’re running, particularly early in the season when [there is not a lot of tape]. There are preseason games to evaluate, but at the end of the day, it’s about, and I’ve talked about this before, the fundamentals and properly executing based on rules. At the end of the day, you’re not really sure early in the season what you’re going to get from the opponents.’
Maiorana: Bills fans should probably prepare for some pain this season
‘But there will be a step backward in 2018 before any steps forward are taken in 2019 and beyond, and that’s just reality. And in a read-between-the-lines sort of way, Beane did acknowledge that before training camp when he said, “This is a new year, but hopefully fans understand or believe in what we’re doing here as a group … that we have it (headed) in the right direction, but we have not arrived, by any means.”’
Roth: An offensive offensive line? New leader Groy says wait and see
‘That performance in the so-called “dress rehearsal game’’ for the real thing was the story behind the story as the Bills’ first-unit offense mustered 78 yards, including negative 5 passing, under rookie quarterback Josh Allen.’
Colin Kaepernick, Nike have a supporter in Bills defensive captain Lorenzo Alexander
‘“So we’ve had guys ‘do it’ through sports, but Kaepernick is a guy doing it right now, so I think it’s a great pairing with Nike and him. To say something is worth sacrificing if you really believe in something (is a powerful message). I don’t think anybody would sacrifice their job right now for certain things, that’s a big sacrifice, it’s how you feed your family. I know I’d be asking, ‘How is this going to affect my job?’’
Ranking the Buffalo Bills’ 12 most important players for 2018 season
‘Note that important and best are not the same when compiling this list. The 12 players selected will all play big roles in the outcome of the season.’
What has to happen for the Buffalo Bills to make the playoffs?
‘Going off of Nathan Peterman’s preseason performance the second year quarterback could be on the verge of lighting the NFL on fire. Sure he struggled last season and even threw five interceptions in a half against the Los Angeles Chargers, but he has rebounded and has the entire Bills organization believing he can help it win football games. Peterman was successful this preseason because of his high completion percentage and ability to get rid of the ball quickly and find open targets. He’ll need to do that at a high level and consistently for the Bills to win games.’
