‘If ever in the history of emergency NFL QB switches one required no explanation from the club, this is the one: Buffalo turning to Allen from Peterman. So don’t get all faux-outraged that Bills head coach Sean McDermott refused whatsoever to get into the whys in confirming the switch at his midday Wednesday news conference.’

The Bills, after botching their quarterback situation, turn to Josh Allen
‘But drafting Allen was a risk. He was not a particularly accurate passer in college at Wyoming, where he connected on 56 percent of his passes. He could be the next JaMarcus Russell rather than the next Wentz. That’s the unpredictable nature of the NFL draft, and it seems particularly pronounced in Allen’s case. The Bills’ decision to trade up and select him came with both considerable risk and considerable potential reward.’
The Bills’ Josh Allen era begins at a bad time
‘The Bills decided to stick with Peterman this offseason instead of keeping Tyrod Taylor or AJ McCarron, who was traded to the Raiders. It was a curious decision, as Peterman had played in four games and started just two this past season, without any success.’
Bills will start rookie Josh Allen at QB against Chargers
‘”I don’t feel the need, honestly, to elaborate,” McDermott said. “We talk a lot in-house about decisions and things and what we’ve got to do and the right move at the right time, and right now, with all respect to your question, this is the right move for us.”‘
Pegula: Bills stadium plans on hold until after elections
‘”That makes sense, and regardless of who wins or doesn’t win, that would be for us the prudent thing to do,” Pegula said during a wide-ranging interview Wednesday, four days before the Bills’ home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. “There’s no reason to cause a lot of distractions right now.”‘

‘McDermott declined to say whether he intends to permanently switch to Allen as his starter. Allen, the No. 7 pick in April’s draft, will become the second rookie quarterback from the class of 2018 to start. Sam Darnold, the No. 3 selection, made his starting debut Monday night for the New York Jets.’
Bills reportedly bench Nathan Peterman after one start again, turn to rookie Josh Allen
‘It was Peterman’s third start of his career, and this one was somehow better than his first. Last year, in a matchup with the Chargers, Peterman went 6 of 14 for 66 yards and five interceptions in the first half alone, before being replaced by Tyrod Taylor, who was named the full-time starter again. Peterman started another game later in the season (the snow globe game against the Colts) when Taylor had to miss the game due to injury. Once Taylor was healthy, he resumed his place in the starting lineup.’
Bills to start Allen against the Chargers
‘”He will be prepared. I don’t think he’s prepared yet, it’s a natural progression during the week but he will be prepared,” McDermott said at his meeting with the media. “At the end of the day, he’s a young player. We keep that all in mind, manage expectations, and know that we embrace that growth mindset. There’s going to be some challenges, some adversity, and you keep learning as you go and embrace that. I think we all do that here. I embrace that. There’s a lot of lessons that I learned from the game the other day. We’ve got to make adjustments, and he’ll have to make some adjustments as he grows as well.”‘
Bills’ McDermott said starting Allen is what’s best for the team
‘Allen got his first taste of real NFL action against the Ravens and McDermott’s takeaway was, “I thought his command of the offense was there, there were some things he did well in getting us in and out of the huddle, which those are the things you don’t take for granted when a young player is out there and then after the snap, executed fairly well at times and then there was other times where we need to execute better, he moved well within the pocket and then outside of the pocket.”’
Bills sign OG Ike Boettger, release CB Ryan Lewis
‘Lewis was inactive for Week One’s loss against the Baltimore Ravens. Boettger’s addition makes him the 10th offensive lineman on the Bills 53-man roster. Boettger was with the Bills during the preseason, but released after the roster cutdowns on September 1st.’
It’s official: Buffalo Bills decide on Josh Allen as starting QB
‘Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed to the media on Wednesday that Allen has been named the starting quarterback. The rookie and seventh overall pick from the 2018 NFL Draft will play against the L.A. Chargers this weekend at New Era Field, the first start of his young career. Allen completed six passes out of 15 and threw for 74 yards against the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday.’

McDermott declares Allen as the starting quarterback
‘McDermott talked about the importance of Allen gaining experience by playing, “he’s going to get valuable experience from being in this case where he’s going to be in this case this weekend in particular, being behind the steering wheel. There’s certainly valuable experience when you can stand and watch, but as we all know, there’s no substitute for the experience when you are actually behind the wheel.”‘
