‘Peterman completed two more passes before an interception that bounced off the hands of new Bills running back Chris Ivory. But despite the pick, Peterman likely placed himself firmly in the lead in the quarterback battle after a strong practice Monday with the first team.’

14 Buffalo Bills who helped or hurt their causes against the Carolina Panthers
‘All in all, Allen wasn’t bad against the Panthers. He showed off his arm multiple times and made impressive plays with his arm and feet. Allen finished 9-of-19 for 116 yards and one touchdown. Considering the offensive line in front of him and the skill players on the field with him, there is much to be encouraged about with Allen’s play. He just wasn’t as impressive as Peterman and McCarron on Thursday night.’
What Bills coach Sean McDermott said after preseason opener vs. Panthers
‘I thought we did some good things (in this) first preseason game. It’s nice to see us get off to a good start in the first half. In the second half, (it was kind of) the tale of two halves. The second half, some of our young guys came in and, at times, I thought we shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and some dropped passes and poor fundamentals.’
What Buffalo Bills were saying about Nathan Peterman’s big game vs. Panthers
‘Peterman went 9-for-10 for 119 yards and a 28-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on the first if his two drives in the game. The big performance comes on the heels of Peterman’s best practice of training camp and should put him firmly in the driver’s seat in the race for the No. 1 quarterback job.’
Josh Allen’s debut: What does it mean for the Buffalo Bills?
‘”I got the whole second half, so I went out there and just tried to have fun and tried to learn and try to improve,” Allen said. “I love this game even more. To get out here and throw with our guys and to trust my lineman and execute the plays and listen to what (offensive coordinator Brian) Daboll is talking about in the huddle, it’s something I always wanted to do my entire life.”‘

‘Everyone watching Allen saw some rookie mistakes and some plays that made you understand why the team traded up for him in the first round. Here’s a look at what people were saying about Allen’s debut.’
Video: Bills’ Kelvin Benjamin has intense pre-game conversation with Cam Newton
‘The video shows Newton approach Benjamin has he’s talking with Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. Davis seems to say, “I thought we were cool” as Newton enters the conversation. Newton bumps into Benjamin and appears to put his hand out for a handshake. After Benjamin refuses to shake his hand, Newton has Davis exit the conversation. The video shows Benjamin walking away from Newton, but the Panthers’ starting quarterback tries to continue the dialogue. After a few shrugs from both parties, the two go their own way.’
Buffalo Bills sweep Rookie of the Year honors in Yahoo Madden 19 simulation
‘Although Yahoo Sports’ Anthony Sulla-Heffinger didn’t share the Bills’ overall record, fans would likely be thrilled if his simulation came true. When simulating the entire season, the Bills swept the Offensive Rookie of the Year award and Defensive Rookie of the Year award. No. 7 overall pick Josh Allen took the offensive honors while middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds won the defensive award.’
Five observations from Buffalo Bills first 2018 preseason game
‘Peterman got the start and did not disappoint. He completed nine of his 10 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. He threw an interception, but it wasn’t completely his fault. He threw a short pass that was slightly behind Chris Ivory, but it was still catchable. His rapport with No. 1 wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin didn’t go unnoticed. Peterman looked his way often and his only touchdown pass went to Benjamin.’

Cam Newton confronts Kelvin Benjamin over disparaging comments ahead of Panthers-Bills game
‘Newton waved Davis away so he could have a one-on-one conversation with Benjamin, then followed the receiver as he tried to walk away. It’s not clear what they said to each other, but the interaction did not end in the friendliest of ways.’
Painfully awkward midfield talk doesn’t help Cam Newton feud
‘When Benjamin said Newton was an inaccurate passer last week, the quarterback didn’t seem bothered by it. That may not be the case anymore, as Newton didn’t seem able to say what he wanted when approaching Benjamin in person.’
