‘It’s very much a wait-and-see scenario for the Bills, but with such a quick track to the start of the regular season, you have to wonder what this means to the results of the quarterback competition. Nathan Peterman and rookie Josh Allen were both superior to McCarron in their performance against Cleveland, but the Bills were giving McCarron equal opportunity to try and win the job over Peterman.’

McDermott: Allen has started earning “respect” and “trust” from teammates
‘”I like the fact that he seems to have begun to earn the resect of his teammates and the trust of his teammates. I think that’s important, not only in the evaluation, but in that position. For every position, in particular, the quarterback position, the respect and the trust is huge,” he said. “That’s an important part of his early stages and his development and his growth, as well.”‘
Williams “week-to-week”, McCarron to receive second opinion on injured shoulder
‘With Williams out, the Bills will turn to rookie Harrison Phillips to fill in for the 13-year veteran.’
McCarron, Williams status unclear for first game
‘Head Coach Sean McDermott said that McCarron is in “the process of receiving a second opinion”. However, it is unclear if McCarron will require any surgical procedures. “We’re still not totally conclusive on the results of the tests. We had some tests yesterday and we’re going to do some more.” McDermott said.’
Hyde sounds off on Landry, helmet rule
‘”If the defensive player did that to the offensive player, he’s getting ejected. I don’t care if he led with the shoulder or not,” Hyde said. “He’s coming all the way from… (outside) the numbers to flying down onto the hashes and just cleaning up someone. To me that’s BS. You can’t do that. All he had to do was get in position, screen him off. He doesn’t have to come in and try to kill anybody. To me, it’s ridiculous”.’
The 1st Bill who knew Josh Allen was good
‘”He threw a couple that whizzed. Like boom, hit the back of the end zone. Our defensive line coach was like, ‘Hey line bring it up. I think this guy is going to be the guy in a couple years. Let’s take care of him. Let’s just stay away from him,” laughed Yarbrough. “That was my first memory of Josh.”‘
QB competition continues, but just Allen and Peterman practicing
‘“Definitely different because I’ve been playing in the league five years and I’m used to seeing three guys out there,” said Logan Thomas of the two-man quarterback rotation Sunday. “So, it was different, but it was good for Josh and Nate to get extra reps and learn a little bit more and see a little bit more out there.”’
Quick Hits: Status updates on Kyle Williams and AJ McCarron
‘“He’s more along the lines of week to week at this point,” McDermott said. “I have a lot of confidence in Kyle, both as a player, a person, healing, but for right now, he remains week to week, so we’ll take it one week at a time.”’
Bills re-sign DL Palepoi
‘Palepoi was released by the Bills right before training camp opened in late July.’
Bills Today: Bleacher Report impressed by this Bills QB
‘Allen was better in just about every facet of the game than the week before. He completed almost 70 percent of his pass attempts (9-of-13), and while his yardage (60) wasn’t overly impressive, Allen consistently made good decisions with the football.’
Report: Cornerback Kayvon Webster plans to visit Bills
‘Webster previously played for the Broncos and the Rams. The Rams released him in April after he failed a physical while recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in a December game against the Eagles.’
Bills punter Cory Carter reportedly tears knee ligament
‘He was signed to the Bills’ practice squad late last season and was battling veteran Colton Schmidt in training camp.’
Jim Kubiak: What stood out about Bills’ QB against Browns
‘The smoke from this hype quickly dissipated as rookie Josh Allen emerged, leading the Bills franchise like an experienced veteran. Nathan Peterman proved his value, finishing strong with an 8 for 8 fourth quarter in Buffalo’s first win of the preseason. The Bills overall QB grade was 94 percent, collectively going 20-for-29 or 172 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.’
Jay Skurski’s Bills Mailbag: So, what happens at quarterback now?
‘In short, yes, I would start Josh Allen against Cincinnati in Week 3 of the preseason.’
Inside the Bills: How ‘Embedded’ came to be
‘The idea for the show came from the footage the team shot from the victorious locker room in Week 17 of the 2017 season in Miami. Assuming the Bills beat the Dolphins, there was a chance they could end a 17-season playoff drought. Camera crews were set up in South Florida, at (716) Food and Sport and in New York City, where the Sabres were preparing to play in the Winter Classic.’
