‘Which were the real Bills run-stoppers? The ones that held the Panthers to a mere 53 yards on 26 carries or the ones that gave up 63 yards on the Browns’ first offensive series on the way to yielding 164 yards on the ground for the game? It might have only been a preseason game, but it was ugly. Carlos Hyde and his offensive line made it look too easy while tearing through a Buffalo front that had presumably taken big strides by signing free-agent tackle Star Lotulelei to a massive contract and trading up to make freakishly athletic linebacker Tremaine Edmunds a first-round draft pick. Edmunds largely looked lost in the early part of the Cleveland game, and the coaches, while in love with his immense skills, see him as having a good deal of work ahead to find his comfort zone.’

Dion Dawkins had a rough night in Cleveland, but hey, for left tackles, it happens
‘First, Dawkins is still young, but he showed tremendous promise last season when he was thrust into playing what is considered the most difficult position on the offensive line when Cordy Glenn couldn’t stay healthy. Second, Dawkins is still adjusting to life without left guard Richie Incognito and center Eric Wood, two excellent veterans who retired in the offseason. Third, it’s the preseason, and now’s the time to get the kinks out, and that’s what Dawkins is doing. Fourth, it was all offensive line coach Juan Castillo’s fault.’
Josh Allen gets his big chance to win Bills’ QB job: Here’s what to watch for
‘McDermott has conducted a fair and extensive quarterback competition among Allen, A.J. McCarron and Nathan Peterman, and since McCarron and Peterman were given starts in the first two preseason games, it’s perfectly logical that Allen gets his chance to play with the first string.’
Buffalo Bills tight end Logan Thomas using QB mindset to flourish and teach
‘Having a player like Thomas is a real asset for Daboll as he implements his offense in his first season. Thomas played for three NFL teams as a quarterback after getting drafted in 2014 but ultimately decided his best chance to succeed in the league was to convert to tight end. With his high football I.Q. and his size – 6-foot-6, 250 pounds – he’s an ideal red zone target for whoever lines up behind center for the Bills.’
Will the Josh Allen era begin, and 6 more things to watch in Buffalo Bills’ matchup vs. Bengals
‘Allen provided a spark for the team’s offense last week against the Browns. If he is able to march the ball down the field and put points on the board against the Bengals, Allen could make his case to be Buffalo’s Week 1 starter versus the Ravens.’
Buffalo Bills have done ‘due diligence’ on Khalil Mack (report)
‘According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Buffalo Bills are one of the teams who have been tied to Mack the most since the defensive end’s holdout began with the Raiders.’
NFL expert Greg Cosell praises Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen
‘”I thought he looked very comfortable with his drops, his sets, his delivery – he threw with touch on the short balls,” Cosell said during his appearance on the Ross Tucker Football podcast this week. “I thought that his stride length was a little bit shorter, which is critical on shorter throws. He was consistently accurate. It was only one week and I’m only telling you what the tape shows, but he looks like he’s being coached. It also looks like he’s being receptive to that coaching.”‘
Details emerge on Andy Dalton’s donation to Roswell Park Cancer Center
‘”There will be two gifts,” Johnson told WBEN. “One is electronics for pediatric cancer patients. iPads, tablets, kindles, given to kids so they can get their mind away from their therapy. The other gift is for Angel Fund, which helps people with lodging, transportation, and bills.”‘

What to watch for in Bills – Bengals
‘The QB competition took a turn after last week’s preseason game against Cleveland. It now has become a two man race between Nathan Peterman and rookie Josh Allen. Allen, the seventh overall pick, is getting the start in what is seen as the closest thing to a normal game. All eyes will be on Allen and how he performs against the Bengals defense. It’s obvious that this is Allen’s chance to claim the starting job as his on Sunday. This will be Allen’s first chance to fire passes to the likes of Kelvin Benjamin, Charles Clay and LeSean McCoy in extended action (he had one drive with Benjamin last week), as well as have the protection from the more consistent first offensive line.’
Report: Bills have done their due diligence on Mack
‘La Canfora added that the Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and Chicago Bears are teams he continues to hear are tied to Khalil Mack, along with the Bills and Jets. Eric Galko from Optimum Scouting reports that the New York Giants are also one of several teams interested in acquiring the star pass rusher.’
What is it about Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen?
‘His confidence. A lot of people talk about players having that ‘it’ factor, and that’s something he has. I don’t know what ‘it’ is, but he has it. As he grows and matures, he’s going to be a great quarterback in this league.’
Angel Fund founder thanks Dalton Foundation
‘The Angel Fund helps financially burdened families with loved ones being treated at Roswell. Hubbell was so pleased with the Dalton’s decision to donate that he’s offering $25,000 to do the same thing in the Queen City of Ohio.’
Getting into routine, rookies prepare for Sunday in the NFL
‘”He is seeing what the lifting schedule would be like, the film schedule would be like, his requirements with maybe you guys in terms of the media, so he’s handled it well to this point,” McDermott said. “We still have a couple days until the game, but its been a good experience just off the field, in terms of getting him into what could be his routine once the season begins.”‘
Developing Josh Allen & creating good habits
‘“It’s a team effort,” Allen said after practice on Wednesday. “It’s a constant struggle day in and day out to not convert to old ways. Every day before practice I go out with Shay and try to work on base drill.’
