‘The injury might open the way for fast-improving rookie quarterback Josh Allen to ascend to starter by the end of training camp. Or as early as the coming week.’

Ready or not, Bills are that much closer to Josh Allen time after AJ McCarron injury
‘But the Bills must be careful. This must be a decision based on Allen’s readiness, not on the lack of good alternatives. This must be about Allen’s long-term development and whether that would be aided — or perhaps harmed — by being thrown into regular season competition so soon.’
McCarron injury opens door for Bills’ Allen, Peterman
‘The 6-foot-5, 237-pound Allen threw for 1,966 yards with 19 touchdowns last season at Wyoming. Peterman appeared in four games with Buffalo in 2017, finishing 24 of 49 for 252 yards with two touchdowns versus five interceptions.’

Ex-Browns receiver calls out ‘Hard Knocks’ for leaving out key details of his trade
‘The news Bills receiver actually got to face his former team on Friday in a preseason game that Buffalo won over the Browns 19-17. After the game, Coleman was asked about his portrayal in the latest episode of “Hard Knocks,” and let’s just say, he wasn’t happy about it.’
Bills coach Sean McDermott says Josh Allen took ‘step in the right direction’ against Browns
‘Allen’s role with the Bills could expand regardless of how he plays in the final two preseason tune-ups. Buffalo projected starting quarterback AJ McCarron reportedly suffered a fractured collarbone Friday and could miss significant time.’
How is Josh Allen performing compared to the 2018 QB class?
‘All five passers have thrown nearly 30 attempts, save for Mayfield and Allen, who have passed that threshold. While Mayfield is crushing everyone in yards and Darnold has barely thrown an incompletion, Allen is keeping up as the runner up in all categories and tied for the most touchdowns through two games in this preseason. Allen is showing the promise of a seventh overall pick in a promising draft class.’
And Then There Were Two
‘Through two games of the preseason Nathan Peterman has been efficient, accurate, and… I want to say efficient again, in running the Bills offense. He’s shown the ability to recognize breakdowns in coverage resulting in downfield touchdown tosses to Kelvin Benjamin and Nick O’Leary. Both were well-identified by Peterman, with big windows to throw into, and touchdowns as a result. He’s shown an ability to get the ball out relatively quickly and through two games has completed 17 of 20 passes for 232 yards with two touchdowns and a pick.’
Williams, McCarron, Carter injured in Saturday’s preseason game
‘DT Kyle Williams, Punter Cory Carter and QB AJ McCarron all were hurt and will have further tests over the next few days.’
Confidence growing in Josh Allen as QB competition continues
‘“I feel like he’s getting a hold of the offense. He’s poised, he’s in the huddle taking command and making the right throws and reads,” said wide receiver Rod Streater who caught a touchdown from Allen. “I feel like he’s learning as he goes on and just a great understanding of the offense.”’
Report: Kyle Williams’ ACL “spared”, could return this season
‘NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Saturday morning Williams’ ACL was spared and he could return this season.’
The Future is Now
‘Sold. Allen is the only quarterback on the roster that can make that play. Start ‘em. He will give the Bills their best chance to win next week, next month, next season and for the next decade.’
Bills Today: O’Leary impresses in second preseason game
‘In his first season with the Bills, O’Leary was cut at the end of training camp, eventually being added to the practice squad and subsequently, the active roster. After participating in just four games that year, O’Leary improved steadily over his next two seasons; catching nine passes for 114 yards while participating in all 16 games and hauling in 22 passes for 322 yards and two touchdowns last season.’
