‘After practice I asked Edmunds to walk me through the play. McCoy, walking nearby, overheard the conversation and came over. He said with a smile, “I want to hear what he says.” Edmunds diplomatically praised the 30-year old running back for how great of a player he is and how going against him makes the entire defense better. Before McCoy walked away he looked at the group of reporters interviewing Edmunds and said, “Something I will say this about him,” looking at his teammate. “In about two years, he’s going to be one of the best players in the league, for real.”’

Phillips: ‘I never understood mediocrity or complacency’
‘“I remember growing up, how much it meant to me to talk to athletes. I was in middle school and the Millard West starting quarterback, he was everything, and there was a D-lineman there who probably never even went on to play in college, but I just thought the world of him,” recalled the Omaha, Nebraska native. “I just hoped that when I got to that platform, those kids were doing the same thing I was doing. Anytime I can go back and tell them the same message they’ve been hearing somebody else, maybe they’d be more willing to listen because of who it came from.”’
The 3-2-1
‘One play, and it’s not something to build an offense around… but it stuck with me. McCarron might win the job to start because he can be relied upon to make some easier plays and “not get you beat”. Once Allen goes in, it’ll be a ride… and I’d bet the Bills are hoping he gets opportunities just like that play.’
Joe B: 7 observations from 2018 Buffalo Bills training camp – Day 7
‘McCarron led the first-team offense out on the field for the second straight day, which makes a rather significant statement from head coach Sean McDermott about the state of the quarterback competition at the moment.’

New baby on the way for Bills quarterback
‘The couple are already the proud parents of 2-year-old Tripp, who was spotted with his father at training camp earlier this week.’
The ‘mad scientist’: Brian Daboll’s ever-evolving offense
‘”Whenever coach McDermott goes up and talks about something, he’s taking notes,” rookie Josh Allen said. “Then we get out on the field and he’s like ‘this is a situation I haven’t seen in a very long time so we have to go over this and that.”‘
5 Questions: Wyatt Teller
‘The ACC officials would call me ‘hugs.’ When you’re young and you don’t know how to use your hands, you just torque them to the ground. Once I calmed down a little bit and used my hands a little bit better, I worked on it hard in college and it shows.’
Brian Daboll’s magic mind thrills Bills offense
‘”It’s an evolving process,” said Daboll. “You find out what guys do well, what guys struggle with, who is doing what, where you want to put the person, what one of the quarterbacks feels comfortable with versus another.”‘
Refs training, learning host of new rules
‘The reception from Bills players was congenial, according to Smith. Many of the questions were about the league’s new targeting and use of helmet rules.’
Quick Hits: Crossman to scout kickoffs intently in preseason
‘“This will be the most important preseason in terms of the kicking game in the 17 years I’ve been in the league,” said Crossman. “It’s going to be interesting and important to see what other teams are trying to do on kickoff and kickoff return. It’s going to be a completely different play. There will be a lot of the same things embedded in it, but a completely different play than we’ve seen in the past.”’
3 things to know from Day 7 at Bills camp
‘The day prior it was AJ McCarron with the first team and Nathan Peterman with the second team. At Thursday’s morning practice that order was repeated, giving McCarron a second consecutive day with the first team. Is it a sign that things have shifted in McCarron’s favor? Perhaps.’
Bills Today: McDermott expects a lot from Milano
‘“Matt had some trouble with his hamstring,” he said. “Even then, how he handled that by sticking around Buffalo during the break to get himself right and to get ready for training camp. That was a big sign of his maturity.”’
