‘“Sticking around Buffalo during the break to get himself right and ready to go for training camp was a big sign, I thought, of maturity,” he said. “He’s very serious about his job and what we’re trying to do as a football team, so I certainly appreciate that.”’

Confident Brandon Reilly sees himself making Bills’ roster this time
‘”He’s not an easily distracted kid,” Williams said. “He’s ready to work every day. He’s not a guy you’ve got to chase around to do the right thing or be on time or anything like that. You take a guy like that, you’re not surprised when he develops, he starts making plays, he starts earning your trust and starts to take advantage of his opportunities.’
Day 6 Training Camp Notes: Defense remains ahead of offense
‘The defense clearly got the better of the offense.’
Bills QB Watch, Day 6: Two-minute drill ends poorly for McCarron, Peterman
‘Facing a steady barrage of blitzers, each of Buffalo’s three passers got sacked multiple times Wednesday during the sixth practice of training camp at St. John Fisher College.’
NFL officials at Bills camp to help clarify the league’s new targeting rule
‘McDermott said the players will be shown videos to help show them what will be considered illegal. “We’ve put together some films to build the rep count and the exposure so we can build our awareness of what they’re going to call and not call, and understand what they’re looking for,” he said.’
Jeremy Kerley showing young Bills receivers how to be a pro
‘”Some guys might take it personally and some might take it as disrespectful, but to me I don’t really listen to what everybody says,” he said. “For the most part, every team I’ve been on has been underdogs. So I like it — it gives me an edge and I always want to keep my edge. I have a competitive side in me and that just gets my blood going and stuff. So I don’t really worry about what people predict or what people think.”‘
Buffalo Bills training camp day 6: Ups and downs for A.J. McCarron (6 observations)
‘The big knock on McCarron through camp has been his indecisiveness. He tends to hold the ball long and sometimes gets stuck as he moves through progressions.’
Former Buffalo Bills LB Shawne Merriman joins bare-knuckle fighting federation
‘”Right now, this is the best opportunity for what I want to do,” Merriman said in a statement to ESPN. “I’ve been kicking tires for years, this is a good place for me to start. I’m looking forward to having some fun out there. I get to train for the next six to eight weeks and go show everyone what I can do.”‘
Training camp: Daboll to bring some much needed creativity to offense
‘“It’s an evolving process,” Daboll said. “There’s different ways to stretch the field vertically — it could just be straight speed-and-run, but there’s different techniques and different routes we can use. You find out what guys do well, what guys struggle with, who is doing what, where you want to put the person, what one of the quarterbacks feels comfortable with vs. another. We have to do constant evaluation.”’
McDermott says Bills are still learning NFL’s new targeting rule
‘“Well, I’ll start off by saying, first and foremost, that I think the officials do a real good job,” McDermott said. “They’re human, and my whole approach is [that] they’re going to miss some [calls], but by the end of the game, hopefully it’s evened out for both sides. It’s not an easy job and I think if you take that mindset into each and every game, that’s just the right approach. With respect to the targeting rules and the other changes and updates on the rules, we’re going to have the officials come in tomorrow and we’ll meet with them and have a few meetings with them so we can gain a little more clarity on what they’re looking for.”’
Bills practice went as expected
‘As I mentioned, the overall performance of the passing game left a lot to be desired. At times the quarterbacks were holding on to the ball too long and the play was whistled dead since it would have been a sack. There were other times where the offensive line had breakdowns and left pass rushers coming free. During one of the 11 on 11 periods, Kyle Williams sacked McCarron on three straight plays.’
Wednesday wasn’t a good day for the Bills QB’s
‘Despite the chaos, McCarron was unfazed, “That happens sometimes, its part of the game. That’s what I try to tell the guys, that it’s not always going to be perfect and you win some and you lose some and today, we just lost that opportunity, but it’s also an opportunity to learn from it and then get better.’
Allen: Competition is something that drives me
‘“Things are going well,” Allen said. “Just getting back into the swing of things with football, diving into the playbook and going out there and executing plays…we’re dormed up so to get to know teammates on a deeper level and develop those relationships I think is going to help us on the field.”’
Joe B: 7 observations from 2018 Buffalo Bills training camp – Day 6
‘Between the three quarterbacks, there was a total of 72 dropbacks by my count in team drills, which makes the next number even more alarming. In those 72 dropbacks, there were a total of 11 sacks allowed — which is a shocking sack rate of 15.3-percent.’
