‘“I just think it’s a great, great match,” said Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl. “As the whole draft was playing out one thing I thought was very important was for Josh to get in a program that fit his DNA. After having an opportunity to talk to a lot of people in the Bills organization and I see the direction and trajectory of the program and I think it’s a great match.”’

What we learned about the Bills draft day 3
‘“The process continues. It is an urgent approach, very much so,” said McDermott. “We all understand how this league works. We’ve been around it a long time. I think if you take an understanding that the process takes some time if you do it the right way. And when I’m talking about that, I’m talking about making good personnel decisions, money decisions. But that doesn’t mean the approach isn’t an urgent approach every day.’

The Wolfpack QB went after McCloud on a couple of passes but he held up well. “I just played football, man,” McCloud said after the game. “The team’s depending on you. Phillips’ selection handled with touch of class
‘Wearing Bills gear, that included a sombrero, the fan was presented with a NFL Draft jersey containing the number 18. Then, he announced Buffalo’s selection, Stanford defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, whom the NFL Network crew assessed as a “young Kyle Williams.”’
Pollock: Bills’ QB Allen has impressive first impression
‘“Of all four or five quarterbacks in the (first round), I feel I’m the one that was suited for Buffalo – the type of atmosphere that you have to play in, the weather, the toughness it takes to play in a cold-weather place. I was that guy. I’m fortunate enough that they came up to get me and I’m going to be forever grateful to be a Buffalo Bill. Hopefully I call this place home for the next 15 to 20 years.”’
Bills make Stanford DT Harrison Phillips third-round pick
‘Phillips gives the Bills some needed youthful depth behind Kyle Williams, who turns 35 in June and is entering his 13th NFL season. He has also been favorably compared to Williams and is looking forward to learning from him, although that’s something Phillips humbly rejects.’
5 things to know about Bills third-round pick Harrison Phillips
‘Phillips was ranked 43rd overall in the News’ draft cheat sheet, which was a composite ranking from NFL.com, ESPN and NFLDraftScout.com. NFL.com gave him a Round 3 grade, so the Bills got value by getting him with the 32nd pick of the round. Phillips said he wrote the Bills a letter before the draft, essentially saying, “I’m ready to bring my lunch pail to work everyday and I’m ready to do anything they need me to do in that organization.”‘

What They Said: Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott and new DT Harrison Phillips
‘Well, again, we’re trying to be very strong up front. We made that obvious with Star and Trent’s additions. This will be another piece that will be in there competing. I think it’ll shake itself out; we’re trying to have versatile pieces. I think his best suited spot would be the one, but I think he could move out there to three. He’ll have many opportunities. I think he wants that opportunity to go out there and rush it a little bit, but we’ll see what he offers once he gets here.’
Josh Allen to Bills fans: Look at my film, not my stats
‘“Definitely got to learn and trust what my coaches tell me,” Allen added. “I’m going to get in the quarterback room, get with Nate [Peterman], get with AJ [McCarron], [and] try to become the best quarterback, the best teammate, that I can be whether it’s playing right away, whether it’s sitting and really learning from these guys, [that] is what I’m going to do. I just want to help this team win football games.”’
Jerry Sullivan: Josh Allen has to grow, on and off field
‘Allen found out the hard way how inane, careless behavior can catch up with a star athlete nowadays. The timing couldn’t have been any worse. One day before the NFL draft, some racist and homophobic tweets that he had posted as a 15-year-old came to light, casting a shadow over the biggest night of his life.’
