‘Well, now the Bills think they have one. Allen was one of the most polarizing prospects in the run up to the draft. The Wyoming product completed just over 50-percent of his passes during his two seasons as the Cowboys’ starter. In 11 games in 2017, Allen threw for 16 touchdowns and six interceptions, but at the NFL Combine, he had plenty of confidence that he’s the best quarterback in this draft.’

‘Josh Allen may be the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the entire draft class. The Wyoming product checks a lot of boxes in terms of what teams are looking for in a quarterback, but he’s also struggled against the blitz and had serious accuracy issues in college. Time will tell if the Bills were correct in selecting Allen so early in the draft.’

‘”I don’t want to get into specifics about each person, because I think that’s a dangerous road, but, to your point, there’s a lot that goes into evaluating college quarterbacks,” Beane said. “It is a much harder job than evaluating pro quarterbacks with the systems, the talent level. You’ve got some teams that are all spreads, some conferences play great defense, some don’t. You’ve got all sorts of things that you have to weigh in there. Those are all part of it, but there’s no one factor or anything like that that’s more important.”‘

‘Allen arguably has the highest ceiling of all of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, but his accuracy was a concern at Wyoming. In 27 games at Wyoming, Allen completed 56.2 percent of his passes.’

‘I would rather have Tyrod Taylor quarterbacking my team over the next four years than Josh Allen.’

‘”We had to do our due diligence and get to the bottom of it and try and understand what it was about, when these occurred,” Beane said. “At first you just see it and you’re like, ‘Woah.’ We did that and Terry and Kim (Pegula) were very involved in this process to vet it out. We all spoke to Josh. We spoke to people who are very close to Josh, his head coach at Wyoming. This is not who this young man is today. I can’t speak to what he was as a 14, 15 year old or what was being tweeted, but I can’t find one person say anything negative about him. We didn’t find one.”‘

‘”Don’t do it,” Allen said with a laugh. “Don’t look at the stats. Trust me. I say watch some game film. Watch some of the stuff that I can do. Very few other quarterbacks can do some of the stuff that I can do. I take pride in that and definitely have to learn and trust what coaches tell me.”‘

‘”First off, going back to six years ago, I was a kid. I’m not the same person I was,” Allen said. “Obviously we were young and dumb — me and my friends — and that’s what we did. We made mistakes; I own up to it. I’ve learned from it and I’ve learned throughout the way. This is just a reiteration from what I’ve learned through my journey going to (Junior College), going Division 1. I love my family, I love my teammates. Obviously this is a very embarrassing moment but the support I got from my teammates at Wyoming and at my Junior College has been outstanding. They know who I am, I know who I am. Obviously it was not the best situation but I’m looking forward to tonight.”‘

‘”The beauty of this kid is he’s 19 years old, he’s 6-foot-5, 250,” Mayock said. “At 19 years old. He doesn’t turn 20 until a couple days after the draft. I put the first tape in on this kid, and today he’s an off-the-ball linebacker. Meaning in a three-four, he’s an inside linebacker and he’d be great there. He also has a scary skill set as an edge rusher, which he did a little bit at Virginia Tech, and I know for sure he’s working on that now.’

‘At 19, he has a chance to grow into a special player. Bills having a good draft.’

‘Whether you like Allen or not, the Bills are certainly loving the upside in this draft so far.’

‘”We really love Josh in terms of his size, his athleticism. He’s played in the type of conditions that we find ourselves in here in Buffalo. We look forward to adding him to our locker room.”‘
