Bills solidify defensive line, keeping Kyle Williams, adding Star Lotulelei
‘The Bills allowed a league-high 18 rushing touchdowns and an AFC-worst 1,487 rush yards after trading Marcell Dareus in Week 8 last season, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. Of those yards, 1,105 were inside the tackles, and opponents’ 4.8 yards per rush inside the tackles was tied for worst in the NFL.’
Bills keep Kyle Williams, expected to add Star Lotulelei to defensive line as well
‘Lotulelei will be joined on the interior of McDermott’s 4-3 defense by the Bills’ all-time leader in sacks for a defensive tackle: Kyle Williams. Williams has played his entire 11-year career with the Bills, notching 43.5 sacks. The Bills themselves refer to him as the defense’s “heart and soul,” and they aren’t wrong.’
Kyle Williams re-signs with the Bills
‘NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported the deal is worth $6 million with $5 million of that guaranteed.’
Kyle Williams: ‘Buffalo is home. It’s where I want to be”
‘I’m excited about it, and I think more than anything, I talked to John Murphy about it earlier, when it comes down to it, as eloquently as I can put it, I haven’t exhausted myself in the pursuit of what my dream is of playing this game, of playing for this organization, and chasing being a champion. Buffalo is home. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to win, and I couldn’t be more excited.’
Report: Lotulelei set to sign with the Bills
‘Lotulelei, 28, has spent the last five seasons with the Carolina Panthers after being taken with the 14th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. In his five seasons with the Panthers, Lotulelei has racked up 88 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and has two forced fumbles in 75 career starts.’
Bills to sign depth safety Rafael Bush
‘Bush is a 7-year veteran in the NFL. The 30-year old has played 76 games in his career, starting 18 of those. Bush has experience playing his natural postilion safety as well as cornerback and special teams. He came into the league in 2010 as an undrafted free agent on the Falcons practice squad. Bush has carved out a nice career since spending time with the Broncos, Lions, and Saints.’
Report: Bills retain all four of their Exclusive Rights Free Agents
‘Here’s how it works: The Bills simply needed to submit a contract offer, also known as a “tender,” to that player for the minimum one-year salary for how many accrued years he will have in the league in 2018. According to the report, that’s exactly what they’ve done for all four players. The player doesn’t even have to sign that offer. It simply has to be formally submitted to him for the Bills to retain his rights through next season. Then no other team has any available avenues to sign that player to a contract or even an offer sheet.’
Report: Bills will look to move into top 5 of draft in next few weeks
‘Second, it is another indication that the Bills have done all these moves gaining draft capital, to ultimately move up for a top tier quarterback. Some reports have linked the Bills to Josh Rosen, some have to Sam Darnold, some have to Josh Allen. At this point, your guess is probably as good as anyone’s on who they’re targeting. Everyone should be able to agree they’re trying to get one of these top quarterbacks.’
Who to choose
‘I’m not here to stress you out about what’s to come in the next few weeks; I’m here to guide your thoughts about the type of quarterback the Bills should target if they’re prepared to go “all in.”’
Kyle Williams sticking with the Buffalo Bills
‘Williams is the longest-tenured player on the Bills’ roster, he will turn 35 in June.’
Report: Bills set to sign DT Star Lotulelei to 5-year deal
‘Lotulelei, 28, has spent his entire career as a member of the Carolina Panthers, which means that he played valuable snaps for Bills head coach Sean McDermott when both were a member of the Panthers organization. It also means Bills GM Brandon Beane had a helping hand in drafting Lotulelei.’
Bills DT Kyle Williams will return for 2018 season
‘As the year came to a close for the Bills, Williams mulled retirement after 12 seasons in the NFL with Buffalo, but appears to be ready to make another playoff run in 2018.’
