‘Davis is free to sign before the official start of free agency next month because he was released by the Colts in November. The Bills potentially have a big need at cornerback with E.J. Gaines, Leonard Johnson and Shareece Wright all scheduled to become free agents.’

Analysis: AJ McCarron ruling is good news for Bills
‘With McCarron free to test the open market next month, it’s possible a team ahead of the Bills in the draft order will convince themselves he can be their long-term answer at quarterback, thus leading them to pass over the position in the draft. Doing so would be one less team for the Bills to compete with.’
Michigan’s Maurice Hurst would be uber fit for Bills’ D-line
‘”In today’s NFL, you’ve got to get after the quarterback and be disruptive,” said ESPN analyst Mel Kiper on a national conference call. “That’s what Maurice Hurst is. For Buffalo, you don’t have Marcell Dareus anymore. Kyle Williams is a free agent. So you look at it, and that’s a need area for the Buffalo Bills.”‘
NFL needs to blow up its rule book; here’s where it should start
‘If I was on the competition committee, there are several ideas I would suggest. Naturally, No. 1 on my list, and I’m sure everyone’s list, is blowing up the catch rule and starting from scratch. Fixing this atrocity must be the most pertinent goal of the owners this year.’
Buffalo Bills ranked next to last to forever end their Super Bowl drought by NFL.com
‘Other teams ranked above Buffalo included the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals. The only team to be listed beneath Buffalo on Hanzus’ list was the Cleveland Browns.’
5 reasons Nathan Peterman could be the Bills starting QB in 2018
‘Chemistry: When Peterman wasn’t throwing interceptions in 2017, it wasn’t all bad. On multiple occasions, Peterman hit receivers in stride and completed timing passes. That was a big knock against Taylor. It’s tough to judge Peterman from his second-career start, a blizzard against the Colts, but Peterman tossed a few nice passes to Kelvin Benjamin, including Benjamin’s first touchdown with the Bills. Perhaps a Peterman-Benjamin spark could be something McDermott is intrigued by. Comparatively to a new quarterback, Peterman would also have a slight edge with his overall chemistry with all of Buffao’s receivers. That is, depending on which receivers return.’
Our view: It’s no ‘miracle’ Reich is an HC
‘So deep is the bond between Reich and this part of New York state, you could argue he’s as popular as the Hall of Famer who started over him, Jim Kelly. Whenever the debate came up locally over who should start for the Bills, it was ridiculous to suggest that the team was better off with a healthy Reich than a healthy Jim Kelly behind center, but a large segment of this population, though they loved winning, never quite took to Kelly, especially as the Super Bowl losses started piling up and Reich’s historic backup heroics became the stuff of legends.’
NFL Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas on mission to help others
‘Thomas said his knowledge of Buffalo public schools, which rank among the worst in the nation, has set him on a new mission.’
Free agent CB Davis visits Bills, Browns
‘Already a free agent after being released by the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 9, David visited the Buffalo Bills on Thursday and was scheduled to visit the Cleveland Browns on Friday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.’
Bills Today: Buffalo among teams that need to dominate the draft
‘In 2017, the Bills were equipped with three picks in the first three rounds of the draft and those players made instant impacts on Sundays. Now in 2018, Buffalo bolsters five selections in the first three rounds, which is two more than last year. That’s all the ingredients the Bills need to have incredible drafts back-to-back.’
