‘An exclusive rights free agent is a player who has two or fewer years of NFL experience. By making a contract offer – typically the third-year veteran minimum – teams can secure the rights of that player, because they are not permitted to negotiate with other teams. The only option they have is signing the contract offer – or sitting out the season. Players with three years of experience who reach the end of their contract are considered restricted free agents. The Bills do not have any of those this year. Once a player has four years of experience, he is an unrestricted free agent when his contract expires. Buffalo has 18 of those on its roster.’

Bills lose wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan to Chargers
‘Jones and the Bills’ receivers largely underachieved in 2017, with none of them ranking in the top 100 of the NFL in either catches or yards. Jones underwent shoulder surgery after a rookie season in which he finished with just 27 catches for 316 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games.’
Buffalo Bills lose WRs coach Phil McGeoghan to Los Angeles Chargers
‘For those asking why McGeoghan left Bills: Has known Chargers HC Anthony Lynn since their days with the Broncos (about 17 years, Lynn was asst STs coach, McGeoghan backup WR), opportunity recently came up with Sirianni leaving.’
What advanced stats say about the aggressiveness of Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor
‘But there’s more to that number than meets the eye. In 2017, the Bills’ receivers averaged fewer yards of separation on routes than any other team in the NFL. So while Taylor wasn’t overly aggressive, his receivers didn’t always give him the chance to be. It’s easy to see why the passing offense struggled when a quarterback who doesn’t prefer to throw into tight windows had receivers who couldn’t consistently create separation.’

Buffalo Bills: Most disappointing, surprising
‘Free safety Jordan Poyer came to Buffalo as an unheralded free agent from Cleveland, coming off a serious injury in 2016. All he did was become a starter from day one and was one of the most important and productive players on the Buffalo defense. He finished with 95 tackles, five interceptions, one fumble recovery, 13 passes defensed, and two sacks.’
Report: Bills lose wide receivers coach to Chargers
‘Both Robiskie and Robinson have the experience and pedigree head coach Sean McDermott values in his assistants. Robiskie, 63, has been an NFL assistant for over 35 years, coaching for six different organizations. His first coaching job was with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1982.’
2017 Buffalo Bills All-22 in Review: Quarterbacks
‘We can sit here and discuss the virtues of trying to find a defensive tackle, a linebacker, a running back — or really anything else, but it’s all secondary to finally finding an answer to the question that has evaded the franchise since Jim Kelly retired. Who will be their next franchise quarterback?’
Bills Today: Mayock calls 2018 QB class abnormally deep
‘“I would call it intriguing. They all have some holes. Most of them are underclassmen. There’s an awful-lot of talent in this class,” said Mayock on WGR 550. “I also think there’s some depth in the class that we don’t usually see. Some quarterbacks like a Luke Falk or a Mike White. The guys who don’t have the same buzz as the first-round guys, but may go in the second, third, or fourth round are interesting also.”’
