‘That day, it seemed as if Taylor’s time in Buffalo was done; no way were the Bills going to bring him back given the huge salary he was due to be owed in 2017. Yet Taylor did return, mainly because he agreed to restructure his deal, betting on himself that he could convince new coach Sean McDermott that he could become the Bills’ long-term franchise quarterback.’

Bills report card: Buffalo needs a new play-caller after Rick Dennison’s playoff debacle
‘Tyrod Taylor may very well have played his last game for the Bills, and it’s tough to make an argument that he should return after yet another performance where he couldn’t generate a thing. He completed just 17 of 37 passes for 134 yards with a pick that wasn’t his fault, leading to a passer rating of 44.2. He got no help from his receivers, particularly Kelvin Benjamin who has done basically nothing since he came to Buffalo in a Halloween trade. His pass interference penalty in the end zone was a huge play in the game. This was the 11th game this year where the passing game netted less than 200 yards. This has to change.’
This was no ordinary trip to cover a Buffalo Bills road game
‘Many of those same people, and some from other flights, wound up congregating at gate E9 in Charlotte for the connection to Jacksonville. Periodic “Let’s Go Buffalo” chants broke out as other travelers looked on in bemusement. I felt bad for the one poor guy at the gate wearing his Jaguars jacket, traveling back home with his wife and small child amid this chaos.’
Bill Cowher jumped through a table and instantly joined Bills Mafia
‘Cowher’s forearms might hurt but it never hurts to have a coach with a Super Bowl ring on your side.’
Bills Mafia revels in post-season frenzy
‘An entire generation bereft of a Bills post-season got their taste of the frenzy as their team fell 10-3 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card game in Florida before what was estimated to be tens of thousands of fans clad in red, white and blue in the stands.’
‘Sacksonville’ Jags bounce Bills
‘Trouble is, Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor showcased his shortcomings, displaying his troubling inaccuracy (17-of-37 through the air with an interception, translating to an anemic 44.2 passer rating).’
Bills vs. Jaguars: Buffalo offense lets them down in playoff loss (10 observations)
‘Before leaving with an injury, Tyrod Taylor had an uneven performance in this game. The Jaguars’ secondary was blanketing the Bills’ receivers all afternoon long, and Taylor finished 17-for-37 with 134 passing yards and an interception. Buffalo’s offense was overmatched all game long.’
Bills players explain how Jaguars QB Blake Bortles beat them with his legs
‘”Well, he did it on film,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “I know we weren’t expecting it overall, but when you watch the film, he’s done it throughout the year. One was a broken play. We just need to have better lane discipline more than anything. But that’s not what won the game.”‘
Report card: Buffalo Bills miss opportunities against the Jacksonville Jaguars
‘Tyrod Taylor played against a great defense on Sunday. Jacksonville’s secondary blanketed Bills wide receivers and their front-seven applied plenty of pressure throughout the game. That said, Taylor didn’t make the most of his opportunities. He missed a wide open Nick O’Leary in the end zone and lofted quite a few passes out of the reach of Bills receivers. Taylor may have also been responsible for calling an audible on 1st and goal from the one early in the game. There’s a very good chance that Sunday was Taylor’s last game as Bills QB. Nathan Peterman wasn’t any better in relief for Taylor late. He was intercepted to end the game.’
Jaguars player accuses Bills’ Richie Incognito of using racial slurs during playoff game
‘This hashtag Ngakoue used is referring to Jonathan Martin, who accused Incognito of bullying him back in 2013. At the time, Incognito was accused of making racist and homophobic remarks to Martin in person and via text message.’
What Bills coach Sean McDermott said after playoff loss to Jaguars
‘“Well, you know, it’s a step. We’ve come a long way in a short amount of time. That said, we’re not where we need to be, that’s obvious. We still want to be playing; we’re not playing next week. So, we learn lessons from today, we learn lessons from all season long that we must use to help us to continue to improve. I know Brandon (Beane) and I will sit down and talk about things as we move forward, making sure that we continue to grow and build on what we did this year. It’s never easy, but we’ll stay on it, and continue to pursue our goals for the organization.”’
What LeSean McCoy, Sean McDermott said about Bills passing at goal-line
‘”Well, during the week we had plays set up and if we get the matchups we’ll take it,” McCoy said. “Then concerning that #20 was out there, I thought we were going to run it. He is a hell of a player but we didn’t run it. I don’t really fight that battle if we should have run or if we shouldn’t have because if we catch the ball and we score everybody is happy. If I run it and I don’t get it I second guess it, and I do score everybody is excited. We need to score here no matter what it is. If I was running it or we are throwing it, whatever it was he’s practicing the same reps. The same situations in the week. That’s the part of the game that hurt us the most.”‘
What Bills players said about LeSean McCoy fighting through ankle injury vs. Jaguars
‘”We knew having Shady was going to be an integral part of our success,” Bills guard Richie Incognito said. “As the week went on, I had confidence because I just saw him bouncing around on it and testing it out. But he’s a warrior, he’s a competitor. He battled through today.”‘
Jaguars’ Marcell Dareus on ‘crazy’ Bills fans, beating his old team in playoffs
‘On Bills fans in Jacksonville: “They were going crazy. I love it. They just bring that energy. It was pretty fun. They all came out and showed up and had a great time.”‘
Why Buffalo Bills’ players, fans can find hope in playoff loss to Jaguars
‘”We can play, man,” safety Jordan Poyer said. “We can play with anybody. This team is on the rise. I’m already excited for next season. I want to play next week real bad.”‘
