‘I think the easiest answer to that is, really, if we don’t win it’s not going to matter. Focus on the task at hand and what’s in front of us and that means, through all the scenarios that are out there, the one common theme is [the] Bills have to win so we’ve got to do that first.’

McDermott weighs playoff berth vs. long-term success in changing player personnel
‘“One of the great lessons I learned from the Super Bowl year coming out of Carolina and going into the next season is culture from one year to another year and teams from one year to another year are almost separate entities. Even though you’d like to be able to say there’s carry over and you want there to be carry over, it’s not guaranteed that there’s carry over from a culture standpoint or a performance standpoint. That’s why what we do in that offseason, the roster moves we make or don’t make are so important to our future success in building upon what we’ve done in this first year. That’s kind of a science in and of itself right there,” McDermott said.’
McDermott says Bills opted for 50-yard FG on 4th-down because of momentum
‘“At that point in the game, it was a back-and-forth game. I felt like they had a little bit of momentum and I felt in order to stop their momentum, going with the field goal, it would have got us within four in a tight game. And I honestly thought it was potentially going to come down to maybe who had the ball last,” McDermott added. “But you learn and grow from all situations and it’s something I’ll use moving forward to benefit us in the right way.”’
The Bills need Doug Marrone’s help and he’s going to try to save them
‘“Make no mistake about it so there’s not a lot of talk about it during the week: We’re going to play to win and we’re going to do everything possible to win this game, period,” Marrone said during a conference call according to Jags beat reporter Ryan O’Halloran for Jacksonville.com. “I’m not even thinking about what happens beyond that. That’s the way we’re going to go about our business this week.”’

Bills’ Kyle Williams focused on team goals, not his future
‘”I appreciate the compliments, and I’m glad that you guys ask them the questions about me,” Williams said. “But this is about our football team, our organization, and it’s much bigger than me.”‘
Bills look for answers to second half drought
‘”Well, there (are) legitimate concerns in terms of being able to score points and finishing drives,” head coach Sean McDermott said. “I thought we moved the ball well at times through the better part of three quarters (against the Patriots), but didn’t finish drives and against good opponents, sooner or later that’s going to come back to get you. I thought we had opportunities. We need to finish drives better and more efficiently.”‘
Bills-Patriots official admits during game he doesn’t know why TD got reversed
‘The touchdown seemed so obvious on the field that an official working the game almost sounded confused when he found out the score had been overturned. That official, deep judge Mark Hittner, was talking with Taylor and Bills coach Sean McDermott when the replay reversal was announced in the stadium.’
Game of Throws: Bills responsible for playoff outlook
‘There were some familiar themes that creeped in for Buffalo over that final 25 minutes. Struggling to convert red zone drives in to touchdowns, questionable decisions by the coaching staff and an inability to close out games in the fourth quarter have been among the biggest concerns for the Bills this season. Those issues showed up once again versus New England.’
Scoreboard watching? McDermott and players discuss situation Sunday in Miami
‘“We’re going to talk about it, just in terms of like I talked about here, big picture perspective,” he said. “Hey, let’s state the obvious. I’m not going to ignore it, and then we’ll move forward and talk about our fundamentals and our mindset and us growing as a football team, just like we do every week, really.”’
Pegulas to privately fund renovations at New Era Field
‘The renovations will hopefully improve traffic flow and improve the design of the spaces fans can congregate when they’re not in their seats. For example, the bar inside the sideline clubs will be moved out of the center and replaced with two service-area bars at each end of the clubs. This is meant to enhance the functionality of the space and limit congestion for ticket holders.’
Bills playoff fantasy close to reality
‘”The intensity level feels like it ratcheted up a little bit. Coach McDermott came in on fire this morning, making sure the troops were all on the same page,” Richie Incognito said.”Being this close, being able to taste it… it’s got a different feeling. It really does.”‘
Quick Hits: Playoffs would be great reward for Kyle
‘“I think it would mean the world,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “It would mean the world to this city and I think it would mean the world to Kyle. I know he wants that, but he also wants what comes with that journey, the championship. Just in small talks I’ve had with Kyle about it. There is a lot of emotion that goes into that because of all the blood, sweat and tears he has put in, his family has put in to this city and this team and the hours that he spends here trying to perform at a very high level for so many years. There is an emotion tied to that.”’
Top 7 storylines for the Bills-Dolphins rematch
‘“I think the easiest answer to that is, really, if we don’t win it’s not going to matter,” McDermott said this week. “Focus on the task at hand and what’s in front of us and that means, through all the scenarios that are out there, the one common theme is [the] Bills have to win so we’ve got to do that first.”’
Bills Today: McDermott’s similar Week 17 scenario
‘“Just putting in a great week’s worth of preparation so that you can put your best foot forward,” said McDermott of what’s needed this week. “You get too distracted on some of the other things going on and all of a sudden you don’t take care of the things we need to take care of, which is win the football game this weekend against a good team.”‘
