‘Ryan is not alone in the national media as McDermott’s move has been widely panned. Locally, most Bills fans who actually pay attention to the team on a daily basis seem to approve of McDermott making this call.’

Bills report card: Sean McDermott set Nathan Peterman up for colossal failure
‘Five interceptions. That’s really all I need to say in defending this grade. Nathan Peterman looked utterly incapable of playing in the NFL, let alone be a starting quarterback. The amazing thing is the Bills only had the ball for 11 minutes while Peterman played, meaning he averaged an interception almost once every two minutes! I felt bad for him because as it turns out, he was put in an impossible situation by coach Sean McDermott. Just because Tyrod Taylor isn’t the answer doesn’t mean Peterman should have been run out there, on the road, against a ferocious pass rush, with a horrible offensive line in front of him.’
This Bills defeat much more than Peterman’s woes
‘In the current three-game losing streak, Buffalo has been outscored, 135-55, or 45-18 per game. The Bills, in that span are also surrendering an average of 414 yards a game, the NFL norm is 337.’
Bills vs. Chargers: Sean McDermott loses credibility with Nathan Peterman decision (10 observations)
‘Furthermore, McDermott’s credibility has been called into question. This is only his first season, and expectations for 2017 were low, but McDermott managed to tease Buffalo with his 5-2 start. Since then, he’s looked in over his head trying to figure out how to stop an embarrassing stretch of football from his team.’
Sean McDermott benches Nathan Peterman after disastrous, 5-interception first half
‘Meanwhile, McDermott credibility has been compromised both inside and outside of Buffalo’s locker room.’
Chargers felt disrespected by decision to play Bills rookie QB Nathan Peterman
‘”He’s a rookie,” Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward said. “He’s a rookie guy, so they decided to start him this week against our team. I’m pretty sure we might’ve felt a little disrespected. They started a rookie against a really good defense. We have some good edge rushers and we have some good guys in the secondary. So we had to take advantage of that.”‘
What Sean McDermott said about Nate Peterman’s meltdown in Bills’ loss to Chargers
‘”It wasn’t what he had hoped for or we had hoped for,” McDermott said. “At the same time, you know when you put a young player out there, a young quarterback, that there’s going to be some ups and downs. This is part of it. The good part about Nate is I know he’s a mentally tough individual and he’s a good football player. To me, it’s not indicative of who he is as a football player, but you know you’re going to go through some of this. All good players do.”‘
What Nathan Peterman had to say about historic failure in Bills’ loss to Chargers
‘”I’ve had tough games before and coach always says you never lose, you learn,” Peterman said. “That will be my mindset moving forward. I am going to learn a lot from this and make sure that it never happens again.”‘
National media has field day with Buffalo Bills QB Nathan Peterman’s first half
‘Has Nathan Peterman ever held a football before today?’
Sammy Watkins chimes in on Buffalo Bills’ QB situation without saying a word
‘Without saying a word, Watkins made it apparent that he’s still a Tyrod Taylor supporter.’
Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman rips Buffalo Bills for benching Tyrod Taylor
‘Wonder what they are gonna say after this game about @TyrodTaylor …. one bad game and he’s benched. Do you cut the new guy after this half?’
Kelvin Benjamin injury: Buffalo Bills WR carted off with right knee injury
‘As Benjamin was hauled down, his right knee bent awkwardly and he stayed on the field in pain. Trainers immediately came out to check on him and helped him off the field. Not long after, trainers put Benjamin on a cart on the Bills’ sideline and brought him to locker room. He was ruled out for the game.’
Wojton: McDermott’s “drought moment” has arrived
‘Since now we’re on the 22nd paragraph of this column, it seems fitting to mention the Bills defense went 22-straight drives without forcing a punt. The Chargers only punted twice on Sunday.’
5 takeaways from the Bills loss to the Chargers
‘Turnovers still gone: The holes were there, but huge turnovers hid them. The Bills defense no longer generates the turnovers it once did when the Bills were 5-2. On top of that, the pass rush was still missing. No sacks with six QB hits. At least last week against the Saints Kyle Williams recovered an early fumble. Buffalo’s defense put a zero up against the Chargers.’
Buffalo Bills Week 11 Report Card: Another disaster as the Chargers crush Bills 54-24
‘As the saying goes, hindsight is 20-20. But Sean McDermott blew it. The decision to start Nathan Peterman over Tyrod Taylor was a stunner. The Bills are in the playoff hunt and have a winning record with Taylor at the helm. Yes, they entered Sunday with a two-game losing streak. But there were a lot of factors that went into those defeats, including terrible defensive play. Blaming Taylor, which is the signal you send by benching him, was wrong.’
