‘”Stay decisive, stay confident and be decisive,” McDermott said. “As a decision maker, when you waver is when you get yourself in trouble. You have to stay listening to people obviously listening to opinions of people I trust, communicating with people. Then also, when a decision needs to be made, be decisive and go with it.”‘

Report card: Buffalo Bills’ QB change leads to another blowout loss vs. Chargers
‘Tyrod Taylor played well in mop up duty, but nothing could save Buffalo from receiving an “F” here. The game was over at halftime following Nathan Peterman’s five interceptions. Although you can’t pin every interception on the rookie quarterback, it’s clear that Peterman was rattled versus the Chargers.’
McDermott says Peterman had moments that were “pretty darn good”
‘“I remain confident in Nathan. There were some plays yesterday I know he wants back and there was also some play still some plays that you look at and say ‘that was pretty darn good,’” McDermott said.’
Report card: Bills lose 54-24 to the Chargers
‘Tre’Davious White is likely out of rookie of the year consideration. Last week, Michael Thomas quietly had nine grabs for 117 yards. Quiet because the Saints’ offense exploded via the run game. This week the secondary looked awful. Jordan Poyer had a couple of pass breakups, but Keenan Allen led the Chargers with 12 grabs for 129 yards and two scores. Mike Williams had another five for 38 yards.’
NFL notebook: Who’ll start this week at QB for Bills?
‘Mr. Rockless (aka overly careful seventh-year passer Tyrod Taylor) never throws a football anywhere near a receiver who’s close to a defender, which is when expert NFL passes often must be delivered. That largely explains why Taylor is ineffective, why he was benched in the first place a week ago, and why he throws so few interceptions.’
Five things to know about the Chiefs’ next opponent, the Bills
‘You’d think Taylor would be under center on Sunday, but no decision has been made.’
Bills’ quarterback dilemma is as clear as black and white
‘The Bills may give a “brotha” a chance, but their margin for error is always smaller than their fairer-skinned counterparts, and Taylor knows it.’
Bills’ Sean McDermott: ‘I don’t regret’ starting Nathan Peterman in five-INT game
‘”I own the decision. I don’t regret the decision, I regret the result. … It’s never one player. I’m confident in Nathan and his mental toughness.”‘
Bills’ McDermott still evaluating on who will start at QB
‘”I own the decision and as I said yesterday, I don’t regret the decision. I do regret the result, and there’s other hands also in the result,” he said. “You go back and you learn from it. I learn from it as a head coach, and I expect all to learn from and we grow and we move forward.”‘
Buffalo Bills’ quarterback switch backfires in a big way
‘”I don’t regret my decision,” McDermott insisted. “I regret the result.”‘
Move to QB Peterman backfires on Bills’ McDermott
‘”I’m going to learn from it,” Peterman said. “I can’t say that enough. I’ve never experienced something like this. This is a good learning experience for me. As things start to happen I have to let them go. From the start I felt good. I felt very confident going into the game, but things just got away from us.”‘
Bills’ Sean McDermott says he’s ‘still evaluating’ his starting QB decision
‘It’s hard to imagine what McDermott could have seen from Peterman that would lead him to believe that Peterman should start going forward, but then the decision to go to him in the first place didn’t make a whole lot of sense, either.’
Richard Sherman: Do the Bills cut Nathan Peterman after five picks in one half?
‘By halftime, Peterman had thrown an incomprehensible five interceptions and with the reeling Bills trailing the Chargers, 37-7, McDermott had no choice but to reinsert Taylor back into the starting lineup. As often happens, the collective social media consciousness went from skeptical to incredulous to apoplectic as Peterman’s interception total grew. Injured Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who has seen NFL quarterbacks in every size, shape, color and ability, even weighed in on what was happening to the Bills in Carson, Calif.’
Bills’ McDermott: ‘I don’t regret’ benching Tyrod Taylor for Nathan Peterman
‘The entire football world outside of the Bills’ team facility thought Buffalo was crazy for benching quarterback Tyrod Taylor for fifth-round rookie Nathan Peterman before the team’s game against the Chargers on Sunday. Predictably enough, Peterman threw five interceptions in his first half of action and ended up getting pulled for Taylor at halftime of the Bills’ 54-24 loss.’
Best and worst of NFL Sunday: Bills burned after benching Taylor
‘The coach believed his own hype — he believed his moves had put the Bills in position to perhaps finally make the playoffs, and his moves would keep them there. But that wasn’t the case. It’s always the players, so if you’re looking to blame them, at least blame the right ones.’
