‘What if I told you guys named Thompson, O’Leary, Thomas, Ducasse, Jones, Davis, Milano and Johnson were among the stars wearing Buffalo blue and white?’

Bills report card: Resilient Buffalo goes from collapse to comeback to stay in playoff mix
‘Full marks for the way the Bills hung in there when things went sideways, but this was a bit of a mess. The Bills wasted, by my count, three timeouts because they didn’t know what play they were calling, twice on offense. The defensive staff never found a way to slow down Tampa Bay’s passing game, and the scheme was bailed out by three turnovers, none bigger than the one by White. I’ll give offensive coordinator Rick Dennison this: His run game package was a little more comprehensive, and they gashed the Bucs pretty good.’
Bills withstand a scare
‘And, offensively, Buffalo totaled season-highs in yards (434), passing yards (268) and just missed in rushing yardage (173, the best was 190).’
Bills notebook: Buffalo improves to 3-0 at New Era Field
‘When asked about the atmosphere, McDermott allowed, “I love playing here … these fans, what more could you ask for? The fans love it, we love it … to me, this is the place to play. I came here a couple of times as an opponent and I remember how hard it was. It’s like heaven for a home team, in my mind. It’s fun to coach here, it’s fun to play here. It’s a great environment … this is what football is supposed to be about right here.”’
Bills vs. Buccaneers: Taiwan Jones unlikely hero in comeback win (11 observations)
‘Deonte Thompson joined the Bills this week off the waiver wire. He came in and immediately provided a boost to the passing game. He led the team with 107 receiving yards and seemed to gain more and more trust of Tyrod Taylor as the game went on. On the Bills’ late, game-tying touchdown drive, Thompson hauled in a 44-yard catch to jumpstart the Bills. Yeah, he can stay.’
Sean McDermott says playing in front of Buffalo Bills fans is ‘like heaven’
‘”I love playing here,” McDermott said. “I do. These fans, I mean, what more could you ask for? These guys live them, the fans love it, we love it. This, to me, this is the place to play. When you come here, I came here a couple times as an opponent and I know how hard it was. It’s like heaven for a home team in my mind. Coaches, it’s fun to coach here. It’s fun to play here. It’s a great environment. This is what football is supposed to be about right here.”‘
Buffalo Bills’ Matt Milano, offensive line earn high PFF grades in Week 7 win
‘Milano found himself contributing in a variety of ways against Tampa Bay, all leading to a team-high overall grade. The rookie linebacker tallied two pressures (both hurries) to go with two defensive stops and a very impressive interception on a seam route where he hung with Cameron Brate step for step.’
How did Bucs’ O.J. Howard get so wide open for touchdown against Buffalo Bills?
‘”They ran what we call a sneak route,” McDermott said. “They flood the zone one way and then come back where he hides underneath. Good play call, good design, good play design. It got him loose, so give credit where it’s due.”‘
Richie Incognito explains how Bills changed scheme, revived running game vs. Bucs
‘”You know, I think it was like a third gap, a third wide-zone and a third QB driven,” Incognito estimated after the game. ” We did a bunch of self-scouting coming off the bye week. When we came back this week, we started installing plays and the focus had shifted away from the wide-zone game to some of the stuff we’re familiar with. More QB-driven stuff. I really think when Tyrod is in the QB-driven stuff and reading the back-side defensive end, he really just kind of holds half the field of the defense and slows down that pursuit front side. It really just kind of cuts the defense in half for us.”‘
Bills beat Patriots to signing Deonte Thompson and reaped benefits in win over Bucs
‘”That’s exactly what coach said in here: a whole bunch of unwanted guys stepped up to the plate today and made a name for themselves,” Thompson said after the game. “I can’t thank God enough. On the sideline, that’s all I kept saying, ‘Thank you, God.’ He put me in a great situation. Great things happened today.”‘
What Bills coach Sean McDermott said after comeback win over Buccaneers
‘I thought there’s a lot of heart on this football team. Really, to me, personifies this city, doesn’t it? Heart, toughness, blue-collar, and fans stuck with us all day. I thought it was awesome, man. Awesome. It’s tough to win in this league. Every week it’s tight. Every week is tight. Guys stuck it out, played four quarters and came out with a win, so it was good to see.’
Bills vs. Buccaneers: Jordan Matthews officially active for week 7
‘Jordan Matthews is officially active for Week 7 just three weeks after breaking his thumb. Matthews practiced all week and will reportedly wear a special protective glove on his injured thumb.’
Rex Ryan predicts Buffalo Bills will rout Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7
‘”Alright, bold prediction of the week. The Buffalo Bills, they don’t just beat Tampa Bay, they rout ’em. And there’s plenty of reasons why. They’re fresher, Jameis (Winston), you know, he ends up not even practicing all week for Tampa Bay, but this running game of Buffalo needs to get on track. Last year, last two years, Buffalo has led the NFL in rushing and rushing average and Tampa can’t stop the run this year so watch out. Look for a Bills rout today.”‘
Tyrod clears benchmarks with win over Bucs
‘But en route to the W, Taylor cleared a couple of benchmarks. Only one time in his career did Taylor win a game attempting more than 30 passes. That came last season on the road in New England, but don’t get too excited. Taylor was 27-for-39 with 246 yards passing and a touchdown that day. Buffalo won 16-0.’
Bills’ McDermott praises fans; Tyrod, Shady post-game pressers
‘“I love playing here,” McDermott said with a chuckle. “I do. These fans, I mean, what more could you ask for? These guys love (the fans), the fans love it, we love it; this is, to me, this is the place to play. When you come here, I came here a couple times as an opponent and I know how hard it was. It’s like heaven for a home team.”’
