'Dareus, 27, has been in a rotation at defensive tackle this season. He's played 52 snaps in two games and currently holds a PFF grade of 80.2 this season. His PFF grade is 28th among all interior defensive lineman in 2017.'

'"I came up in this league with a lot of old school coaches in Mike Nolan and Wade Phillips and all those guys and Marvin Lewis," Joseph said. "I was always taught, as a coordinator or as a head coach, you have to do what your players do best. I'm not opposed to running a 3-4 or a 4-3 or whatever makes our players successful. I'm not a coordinator that's going to show up and just shove my defense down the players' throat. I'm going to do what's best for the personnel."'

'Shady back on track?: This one is almost as much about the offensive line as it is about LeSean McCoy. The Bills workhorse back was held to a terrible day against the Panthers. He had 12 carries and only nine yards rushing. Very ugly. McCoy didn’t have many holes as the offensive line had a poor game as well. Both need to pick it up. Might be a tough test. Denver held Dallas running back Zeke Elliott to eight yards on nine carries last week. Can Shady defy the odds?'

'Well, this much we know is true about Dennison: He’s unafraid to win ugly. As fans in Broncos Country know all too well, Dennison will dial down the pace until an NFL game becomes little more than an excuse for a nap on the sofa. While new Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is more apt to draw up a play in the dirt than to strictly follow a script, Dennison is an engineer that prefers the sweat equity of a one-brick-at-time grind.'

'"'Shady' [McCoy] is probably one of the more electrifying backs going back to Barry Sanders," said Broncos Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods. "He is a daylight runner, meaning he may start off to the A gap one side, and end up on the sideline on the other side."'

'"In this league, you've got to deal with it. Too much complaining. Too many excuses," McCoy said, shouldering the blame for being held to 9 yards on 12 rushes — a career low for a game in which he has more than seven carries — in a 9-3 loss to the Panthers.'

'Lawson suffered a nerve contusion in his foot in Sunday’s 9-3 loss to the Panthers, but both he and head coach Sean McDermott indicated they are confident he will play Sunday. Glenn is dealing with an injured foot. Both players were held out of practice Wednesday.'

'In fairness, Carolina has an impressive defense and it was the home opener. After two games, the Panthers lead the NFL in fewest total yards, passing yards and points surrendered (Buffalo is second, second and fourth in those categories). But it’s worth wondering whether Carolina’s stats are inflated merely because one of its two games was against the Bills’ struggling attack.'

'It's easy and perhaps more comforting to conclude that a week after dominating the New York Jets' defensive front to the tune of 190 yards on the ground (110 by McCoy), the Bills' offensive line simply was overmatched by more talented defensive linemen and linebackers. Coach Sean McDermott chose to go that route Wednesday when he told reporters, "I think, really, when you look a week ago against the Jets, how we controlled the line of scrimmage … this is one game. That’s life sometimes in the NFL."'
