Buffalo Bills won't entertain trade offers for RB LeSean McCoy (report)
'Although there are quite a few teams that could use McCoy's services, it's hard to imagine Buffalo getting rid of their best player. Bills GM Brandon Beane has already stated that the team isn't "throwing in the towel" on the 2017 season and Eric Wood stated today that the word "tanking" is not in the team's vocabulary.'
Is Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor being set up to fail?
'"I can't control some of the things that go on in this league," Taylor said Tuesday. "All I can do is focus on myself and be preparing each and every week; That's what my mindset has been since the day I've been fortunate enough to play in this league. There's been a lot of things that I've had to adjust to, and I'm going to continue to keep doing, and keeping my mind focused on my goals, and the goals we have as a team." '
Eric Wood says 'tanking' is not in the Buffalo Bills' vocabulary
'"They should probably come to practice and see the work we're putting in," Wood said of those who think the Bills are tanking. "That's not even in our vocabulary. We're not thinking about it. A lot was made after the trade and I understand that, but we're working. We still have a ton of talent on this team and I have a ton of confidence in us."'
8 things Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said about Anquan Boldin retiring
'"It's how we handle these types of moments that will define where we go," McDermott said. "Who knows what the next thing is? I believe the NFL is a test of how long a group of people can hang together."'
McDermott, Tyrod discuss Boldin departure
'“Tyrod’s been around this league a long time as well, so he knows you adjust. Tyrod, just like the rest of our football team is extremely resilient. He’s adapted over the course of his career and he really embraces those types of situations. That’s the Tyrod I know and I wouldn’t expect anything different,” McDermott said.'
Bills receivers challenged to adapt after Boldin retires
'It's a group now led by second-round draft pick Zay Jones and Jordan Matthews, who has been sidelined since chipping a bone in his chest during his first practice with Buffalo. Matthews was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia on Aug. 11, the same day Watkins was dealt to LA.'
Glenn, Matthews 'on schedule' to play in Bills' opener
'The Bills head coach told the media before practice that OT Cordy Glenn and WR Jordan Matthews are both “on schedule” to play in the team’s week one opener against the New York Jets.'
McDermott: Bills respect Boldin's decision and will adjust
'“I’ve been in this league and around this league for around 20 years,” he said. “I’ve learned not to be surprised by anything. That’s really the core of it, and as a football team, we adapt. These players, this football team has adapted before and will continue to adapt and show grit. That’s a hallmark of a good football team. I’ve been extremely proud of the way everyone has done that all through preseason.”'
McDermott: Adapting to change is the key
'“We adjust. That’s what we do,” he said. “That’s what this league is about, adjusting on the field and adjusting off the field with our game plans. I’ve been in this league and around this league for 20 years and I’ve learned not to be surprised by anything. As a football team we adapt. This team has adapted before and will continue to adapt and show grit. That’s a hallmark of a good football team. I’ve been extremely proud of the way everyone has done that all through the preseason.”'
Bills Today: Poyer having a productive camp
'“I was really excited for the opportunity,” said Poyer. “Buffalo has given me an opportunity. I was excited to come here with the coaching staff that they have and players that they have. I’m ready to help to contribute in any way they need me.”'
Bills’ McDermott on penalties, anthem protests, starting ‘D’
'But he quickly added, “ I don’t want to overlook all the progress, all the great moments in (that) game. (But) the penalties, we have to take a good look at those and get those corrected. They just don’t all fall into one bucket; I went back and looked at both games and when you’re playing aggressive, you’re going to get some of those penalties. Some of those, you can handle – the large amount of them, though, are unacceptable .'
Was there more to Boldin’s exit than benevolence?
'There’s no question about Boldin’s dedication to off-the-field pursuits, especially after 14 seasons in the NFL with Arizona, Baltimore, San Francisco and Detroit where his prolific production was sometimes overshadowed by his off-field dedication and generosity. Even, in announcing his retirement, he made it clear how much the tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia bothered him.'
Jordan Poyer's 'quiet' summer a good sign for the Bills
'“You hit the nail on the head – he’s been flying under the radar,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “His role on this defense is vital. He communicates well back there for us. He’s one of the quarterbacks along with Micah Hyde, for the defense and the secondary.”'
Anquan Boldin opens up, says 'there's something bigger than football at this point'
'"It wasn't a decision that I made all of the sudden," Boldin told hosts Vic Carucci and Ross Tucker. "It was something that I had been dealing with for a couple years. I always felt like football would be my passion, football would get me past a lot of things. When I stepped up to the podium, what I said was honestly true. But just seeing things that transpired over the last week or so, I mean, I think for me, there's something bigger than football at this point.'
