'"As a team, trying to win and not have a distraction on the team, I just take that as a player — there's certain players that could be on the team with big distractions, and there's other players that it's not good enough or not worth it. I think his situation is not good enough to have him on the team with all the attention that comes along with it. I'm sure if a guy like (Tom) Brady or a guy like whoever is your favorite player — Odell Beckham or a guy like that — you'll deal with that attention and play him."'

'"It's how we handle these types of moments that will define where we go," head coach Sean McDermott said. "Who knows what the next thing is? I believe the NFL is a test of how long a group of people can hang together. I think the bottom line with Anquan's situation, as a football team is, we respect his decision. That said, we adjust. That's what we do. That's what this league is about. Adjusting on the field and adjusting off the field."'

'"It's a lot more than just he's not on the team because he doesn't want to stand for the national anthem," McCoy said Thursday. "That may have something to do with it, but I think also it has a lot to do with his play. I'm sure a lot of teams wouldn't want him as their starting quarterback. That chaos that comes along with it, it's a lot.'

'"We had a great conversation, I'll leave it at that," McCoy said of talks with coach Sean McDermott and GM Brandon Beane. "One thing about it is everyone can have their own opinions or make up things. Nowadays with social media everything is blown out of proportion. At the end of the day the only thing I can do is control what I can control. And that's be one of the best players in the NFL, like I've been doing since I've been in the NFL. That's all I can do. Trade or not, keep me here, whatever it is.;

'"This is a lot going on with this whole Kaepernick situation. In this country you can believe what you want," McCoy said. "Freedom of speech. If guys want to stand, they can stand. I think maybe they can choose a better platform to state their beliefs. One thing I learned about just here in America is that people, they're followers. There's some that you may ask about these different topics, but they'll say what they heard, not what actually know, even with the Kaepernick situation."'

'"You always just want to know, and be aware," he said. "But they’re all in to win. We’re a team and that’s what we’re trying to do. I think I’m one of the key guys here. I don’t want to leave. Buffalo embraced me with open arms. And they took me in.”'

'“It was something I had been dealing with over a couple years,” he said. “It’s been over a number of years. I’d say about two or three years to be exact. Football has always been my passion. It’s the thing that I’ve wanted to do most since I can remember. But sometimes, there’s things that just trump your passion. There’s some things you just feel led to do, and for me that was helping people.”'

'But let’s be honest, Tyrod Taylor is the guy most affected by these developments at wide receiver. If the plan really is to keep guys like LeSean McCoy, Jerry Hughes, and other remaining core veterans on the roster in an attempt to remain as competitive as possible, it’s important to add a playmaker to give Taylor a chance to succeed.'

'“You know, Lorenzo defies his numbers,” Frazier said. “What is it, 34 years of age? He doesn’t play that way. He plays like a guy that’s 25, 26 years of age the way he runs and competes. That play he made (last Thursday night) on (Eagles QB) Carson Wentz when he scrambled, that was an impressive play. You would not know he was 34 years old running down a fleet, athletic quarterback the way he did.”'

'"That's a great example," McCoy said. "Take a guy like Michael Vick who went through all that we went through. He's ten times better than Kaepernick. So, you'll deal with that situation. You'll deal with that attention, the media aspect of it, the good or bad attention you'll get compared to Kaepernick. He's not really that good of a player, you know what I'm saying, to deal with. But people outside of sports don't really know that. They see only one side of football. You know, 'a black guy standing up for what he believes in, so the NFL's against him.' But I think it's more than that. I think this has to do with some of that. But, also, just dealing with him, with a team that's trying to build together. And so many outsiders can mess up a team. I can see both sides, I really can.'

'The Bills say they aren't in any position to trade LeSean McCoy, but, the more gripping question is… should they be?'

'I think his situation is not good enough to have him on the team with all the attention that comes along with it. I’m sure if a guy like Brady or a guy like whoever is your favorite player – Odell Beckham or a guy like that – you’ll deal with that attention and play him. With certain guys, it’s not worth it. It’s all what you believe in. I kind of stay out of it because everybody has their own beliefs and what they believe in. It is what it is.'

'Head Coach Sean McDermott spoke on Thursday morning, saying OT Jordan Mills has the flu, and that WR Jordan Matthews and OT Cordy Glenn aren’t expected to play this weekend.'

'“I’m not going to address any trade talks. I talked to my coach, Sean, and Brandon (Beane), the GM like a man and I have a lot of respect for them guys,” McCoy said. “We had a great conversation.”'

'“Jordan Matthews and Cordy Glenn both of whom are progressing well, will make the trip. We’ll continue to list them as day to day. We believe they’re headed in the right direction,” said head coach Sean McDermott. ““I really don’t think they’ll play at this point. We do want to get them acclimated to traveling with us and going through that process. Staying in the hotel the night before and being involved in the meetings. We may even have them warm up with the team and be on the sideline too.”'
