'Waufle spent the past five seasons as the defensive line coach with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams. He also coached with the Oakland Raiders in two separate stints and also was on the New York Giants’ staff.'

'The only coach to officially be retained from Ryan's coaching staff to date is special teams coach Danny Crossman.'

'"The consistency he displays within his skill-set, like he may be just an average quarterback but the consistency he has within his skill-set means you can build a good offense around him. He's not a guy who you don't really know what you're going to get from snap to snap the way Jay Cutler is, he's a guy who can create, who can extend plays, who can elevate guys around him. Sure, he'll miss a couple of open receivers at times but overall he had a really, really good year and he kind of took the blame for everything that went wrong around him in Buffalo."'

'Waufle is from Hornell, New York, and began his coaching career at Alfred University in 1979.'

'"I have a lot of hope that he will be the guy that will be able to bring them back," said Power. "I think he'll get the defense up to where they were three years ago or so."'

'Waufle joins the Bills after spending the last five seasons coaching the Rams’ defensive line. He originally began coaching in the NFL in 1998 with the Oakland Raiders (1998-2003) and has spent time with the New York Giants (2004-09), Oakland Raiders (2010-11) and the Rams (2012-2016).'

'“One of the things that we talked about when Sean came here was becoming his own guy,” Rivera said. “Developing his own personality, but more importantly building his own defense. Putting his own stamp and I think that’s probably the biggest thing that really separated him as far as the guy that I had when we first got there – the guy that just came from Philadelphia to the guy that left to go to Buffalo to be the head coach.”'
