'How did the general manager not have input into the firing of the head coach and is that input he would want as head of the football operation?'

'McDermott has served as the Panthers' defensive coordinator since 2011. From 2012 to 2015, McDermott's defenses were ranked in the top 10.'

'Goodwin has served as the Cardinals' offensive coordinator since 2013. Arizona's offense finished the 2016 season sixth in points (26.1), ninth in total yards (366.8), ninth in passing yards (258.5) and 18th in rushing (108.2).'

'Whaley said the decision to fire Rex Ryan was one made between Terry Pegula and Rex Ryan. He wasn't involved. He says he doesn't know why Ryan got fired when he did. He did not have input on whether Rex should be fired. Whaley also said he got no explanation from the Pegulas on why Ryan was let go.'
