'Will the players have a better grasp on Rex Ryan’s system? Last season there was a lot of confusion and communication breakdowns on a weekly basis because a player or players didn’t know what he was supposed to be doing on a given play. The players say Ryan has pared down the number of checks that take place before the ball is snapped.'

'It was a very undisciplined practice at times. Several false start penalties and even more – far too many – offsides penalties. When a defensive player jumped offsides, he was immediately removed and replaced.'

'“I really like the way he is (covering). I think he’s a complete player. That’s what you saw on tape and that’s what he is here. He can blitz, he can hit, he can stuff the run, and I think he’s good in pass defense. He understands it. I think everybody’s question is when you see a guy’s 40 time. But there’s players in this league that…they just know how to play. It might not be the fastest guy. But somebody with speed that doesn’t have the instincts and awareness of others sometimes doesn’t play as fast as maybe a guy that can’t run a 40. But I said before, I don’t think that was a negative about Reggie, his cover skills.”'

'“That’s something when you look back on last year, obviously some of the things that we’ve got to get a heck of a lot. That is obviously the penalties. And those self-inflicted ones which is jumping offsides, false starts, late hits. You know those are things that we know we can clean up and we have to clean up,” Ryan said.'

'To say that Rex Ryan has been annoyed by the amount of penalties his team has taken since he took over is a bit of an understatement. Ryan tried to enforce a pushup policy early in the 2015 season for those that committed penalties, just to try and put a stop to it. By the end of the year, it didn’t work, with the Bills being tied for the highest total of accepted penalties in all the National Football League. On Sunday, the problem crept back in with multiple pre-snap penalties, and there’s a new rule going in.'

'For the second straight day, we witnessed a version of Tyrod Taylor that was totally unlike what we saw from him during the team’s mandatory minicamp.'

'Eric Wood, Reggie Ragland, LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, and even Rex Ryan stopped and chatted with Jack as they left the field. With every new signature Jack's smile grew bigger– but he nearly burst when his favorite player, Tyrod Taylor, stopped by for a few minutes. But why, out of all 90 players, is Tyrod the guy?'

'Lewis in fact was targeted on the first play of red zone work. EJ Manuel lofted a fade pass to Lewis in the back left corner of the end zone, but rookie CB Kevon Seymourmade a nice play on the ball to prevent the reception. But it’s clear the team has plans to incorporate receivers with bulk and height into their offensive arsenal.'
