'Bills running backs coach Anthony Lynn said Wednesday that McCoy's lack of reps this spring has been "by design," adding, "[to] keep him fresh, going into his eighth year, [there is] a lot of miles on those legs. So we'll do the same thing with training camp with him."'

Tyrod continues strong OTA and minicamp performance (Wednesday notes)
'EJ Manuel wasn’t very sharp overall, throwing one would-be pick-six interception to Corey White (although the whistle had blown shortly before the throw) and another into the chest of defensive lineman Corbin Bryant who had dropped into coverage. It wasn't all bad for Manuel, who had a couple nice mid-range throws over linebackers that got to his wideouts just before they went out of bounds for completions.'
Six months on the job, Bills' Kathryn Smith doesn't think she's been treated any diff
'"It was an honor. It was really incredible," Smith said. "It was really amazing that it made that much of a splash. A bit overwhelming too just because, again, I was just trying to do my job and wasn’t expecting all of that but it’s been good. For the most part, it’s been positive so that’s been nice."'
The Bills' early plan for QB Cardale Jones
'"You know we are trying to really throw everything at him which is somewhat unfair, but in the long run it is probably the best way to do things," Bills offensive coordinator Greg Roman said after Wednesday's minicamp practice. "At some point we will titrate down, define the player and customize what we do with him. Right now we are exposing him to everything to get a feel for him. So we are not really in the evaluation phase, we are simply trying to get him prepared for training camp."'
7 observations from 2016 Bills minicamp – Day 2
'While Tyrod Taylor was once again the best quarterback on the field — as he should be — the day for Cardale Jones is one that had as many twists and turns as a soap opera.'
Fitness, weight loss up first for Karlos Williams
'“It’s going to require some work, some discipline in the meal room. That’s something that I have to do. I’m a professional,” Williams said. “Being with my pregnant fiancée, when she ate, I ate, so it was kind of hard dealing with that, but the coaches and the strength and conditioning coaches are behind me, so it’s not going to be a problem.”'
Bills minicamp notes – Day 2
'“I feel pretty great,” Woods told Buffalobills.com. “I had a long offseason of training and rehabbing and just getting right. It feels good. It’s like a blessing to be back out here full speed, running, getting open, back to normal. It feels good.”'
Bills CB Stephon Gilmore: 'They have to do what's best for them and I have to do what'
'However you slice it, it's clear Gilmore would like to ink a long-term deal because he sees other players at his position cashing in.'
Bills HC Rex Ryan on 'overweight' Karlos Williams: 'He's not anywhere close to w
'Ryan wouldn't say how overweight Williams is, only that "You guys can see him as well as I do. He's clearly overweight."'
Bills' Ryan: Jim Kelly 'knows I'm a hell of a coach'
'"It's, 'Oh, hey, we're going to lose,' whatever," Ryan said. "Man, I don't look at it that way. I'm definitely the (glass-is-) half-full guy. I expect some great things out of this team, and I'm going to be shocked if it doesn't happen. I think our whole division has improved. I don't know how much New England's improved. Obviously, they're right at the top every year, so I hope they don't improve much. I think Miami's gotten better, I think the Jets have gotten better.'
All’s right with the Bills, except for minor details
'Seantrel Henderson’s agent is stunned that no Bills coach reached out to the right tackle after two offseason intestinal surgeries.'
Transcript from Buffalo Bills minicamp of Rex Ryan, Gilmore, Goodwin, Taylor and Karlos Williams
'I think everybody has a challenge, there’s competition, but I think his skillset is one that you want to see on that field and see how he progresses and things. Obviously it’s not an ideal thing from where he is as a football player but I think he’s going to be in great shape; we know that. Obviously he’s training at a world-class level, he’s trying to train that way. Now, albeit nobody’s hitting you, but he’s running all the time, he’s in phenomenal shape so that’s going to help but we’ll see. In today’s world, it’s a little different. Everybody has a little, your playbook’s on an iPad these days so he’s not training 24/7, he’ll have some time to look at the playbook and all that and then let his physical tools take over when he gets here.'
Bills' Gilmore at mini-camp only because it's mandatory
'“I’m not frustrated because I know what I can do on the field, my game speaks for itself,” Gilmore said. “Those guys are great players, but I know what I can do, what I can do on the island making plays. When they got those deals it helped the cornerback market out a lot, so I’m looking forward to it. Whatever happens, if it’s now, if it’s later, my No. 1 priority is to prove myself on the field when it’s time.”'
Karlos Williams is overweight and Rex Ryan is not happy
'“Obviously he's not anywhere close to where he needs to play at a high level,” Ryan said. “So we've got to get some weight off him and he certainly understands that. You guys can see him as well as I do; he's clearly overweight. You wish that he was in much better shape, there’s no question about it. I think in the future I’m sure he’s got to realize that what he did this offseason is far from what you want. He’s a young guy, hopefully he’ll learn from it.”'
Bills RB Karlos Williams overweight after skipping OTAs to be with pregnant fiancee
