'Ingoglia, who joined the department 16 years ago, recalled the events of Sunday morning to the D&C. Ingoglia said he was home Sunday morning when he was told to head to the nightclub, arriving 90 minutes after the shootings began.'

'Last month, general manager Doug Whaley described talks as being "a complicated process," while cautioning the value of Gilmore's next contract as potentially handcuffing the team from addressing other positional needs. One of those spots is quarterback, with starter Tyrod Taylor also entering the final year of his contract.'

'I had written during OTAs that there seemed to be more intensity on the field than usual for that sort of practice. Well, that continued, for the most part, Tuesday. There were no fights (as there was during one of the OTA sessions), but there seemed to be a much more serious approach to every drill and portion of practice, and got a bit chippy again at times. This was especially evident during the offensive line individual session. Players were going pretty hard, even against blocking sleds and hand pads, and it was quite a bit vocal, as well. This is the first time all rookies and all veterans have had to be together on the field, and all of them want to prove they belong or that the new guy isn’t taking his job.'

'"I'm close. Not far off, not far off," Williams said. "It’s going to require some work, some discipline in the meal room and that’s something I have to do, I’m a professional."'

'However, even though he was in attendance, it didn't mean he was going to be a full participant. Gilmore abstained from practice in any capacity on Tuesday, instead just watching from the sidelines as his teammates worked out. It's not an unprecedented action by a player locked in a contract squabble with his team.'

'On the flip side, the quarterbacks below Taylor on the depth chart haven’t been anywhere near the same level as the starter. Backup EJ Manuel continued to have problems hitting deep targets in stride, either overthrowing it by quite a bit, or under throwing it to the point where the receiver had to slow down — which then allowed the defensive back to get back into the play.'

'“We’ll see,” he said. “I will compete whenever I get there. I’m going to work on my craft in training camp and carry that over into the season and have a great year and see what happens.”'

'“It definitely takes reps,” said Taylor. “It takes learning your receivers. Of course that’s what I had a chance to do during this offseason and the OTA periods. Just throw a bunch of balls to guys and understand what is comfortable to them, the ball they can adjust to and just learning your receiver. It’s my job to get the ball to them, but the better I know my receiver the better off I am.”'

'"It’s going to best serve me because I’ve seen a lot my first year," he said. "I’m more comfortable with recognizing formations and just, communication-wise, with the vets and guys on the field, so the second year of being in the same defense will help me a lot."'

'The 6-foot-4, 284-pound Douzable began his NFL career in 2008, on the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings. He was previously on the active rosters of the Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams and New York Giants. He also had a practice-squad stint with the Detroit Lions.'

'Everyone around the NFL is watching the Browns' grand experiment closely. If it works, other teams will be inclined to give it a try. And if the Bills' playoff drought extends to 17 seasons, don't be shocked if they're among the clubs that join the movement.'

'Douzable has seven seasons of NFL experience, including the previous three with the New York Jets. He is reunited with Rex Ryan, who took over as the Bills coach last year after spending six seasons coaching the Jets.'
