Bills’ defense trying to get in sync with Ryan’s system
'“I think, for us, it’s just everyone figuring each other out,” Hughes said Wednesday, as the Bills began full-scale preparations for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. “For the defense, it’s just us understanding what our coaches want from us on the field. And, then, also understanding the scheme, so that way we can still go out there and play fast and be able to communicate with one another, so that way we’re all on the same page.”'
Bills bring Cundiff in for kickoffs, could pressure struggling Carpenter
'Bills coach Rex Ryan indicated that the team releasing Gay had nothing to do with his performance on kickoffs, which means it must have something to do with field goals. Through four games, Carpenter is 5 of 7 with one missed extra point. One of the team’s current kickers could be released by the time the Bills travel to Tennessee for this weekend’s game. Linebacker IK Enemkpali is available for reinstatement after his four-game suspension.'
Bills aren’t totally sad about lack of sacks
'“As long as you tackle well, that’s fine,” Ryan said. “You get off the field. That’s what it’s about. So if we don’t have a sack, that doesn’t matter to me. I want to win. You go back to the 2000 Ravens. They gave up 165 points on the season, which nobody’s been close to. I think we only had 35 sacks that year.'
Dixon ready to cut loose as starting RB
'“It’s a huge opportunity,” Dixon said. “I’m putting in extra work. I’m just trying to take advantage of it. I feel like I’m born for this.”'
Mariota isn't keeping Ryan up at night
'"I don’t think the kids' gonna have his way against us; I don’t think that’s gonna happen," Ryan said when he was asked whether his defense needs to show a little pride Sunday in Tennessee and not let a rookie, playing his fourth NFL game, beat them.'
Bills sign Cundiff; Carpenter may be toast
'"I shouldn't be missing kicks inside 40, it's as simple as that," Carpenter said matter-of-factly, with the full understanding that while he's been told everything is status quo for now, his job is on the line. "They have to be able to rely on someone to make those kicks."'
Can Boobie Dixon handle 'workhorse' role in Bills' backfield if Karlos Williams can&a
'Right now, Dixon is No. 1 on the Bills' running back depth chart. He's gotten this chance before. Last year, the Bills lost C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson in one game, forcing Dixon into an increased role. He ended up with his only 20-carry game in the NFL and turned it into just 44 yards. In 2015, on eight carries, Dixon has zero total rushing yards.'
Rex Ryan hints that Billy Cundiff could push Dan Carpenter for Bills' kicker job
'"(Cundiff) does have a strong leg, so he can handle kickoffs, and he's been a good kicker," Ryan said. "We'll see how everything plays out. Jordan, sometimes just carrying a kickoff guy sometimes isn't the best thing for your team. This move had nothing to do with Jordan. I think Jordan did a tremendous job in the role that he had. That doesn't mean we won't have Cundiff kick off and have Carpenter do our kicks."'
Report: Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. fined for punch thrown against Bills
'Beckham, who threw a punch for which he wasn't flagged, has been fined $9,000 by the NFL, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.'
Rex Ryan has Buffalo Bills doing pushups for penalties in practice
'"Just see how many people he is affecting," Ryan said. "That his actions are affecting. Penalties still gonna happen, but we have to eliminate them to the best of our abilities. Especially the self-inflicted ones."'
Buffalo Bills sign K Billy Cundiff, WR Denarius Moore
'Moore set career highs for catches (51), receiving yards (741) and touchdowns (7) back in 2012. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals back in April but was cut during Cincinnati's final cut down to 53 players.'
Rex Ryan on Marcus Mariota: Kid won't have his way with us
'“He’s obviously got a real good grasp of the system,” he said. “He’s a multitalented guy, and they’re taking advantage of some of that. He does some of those zone reads where they incorporate a pass/run option, different things. The young man looks impressive.”'
Marcus Mariota to be Challenged by Rex Ryan's Defense
'“He’s obviously got a real good grasp of the system and shoot, you know, he’s a multi-talented guy and they’re taking advantage of some of that. He does some of those zone-reads where they incorporate a pass-run option and different things. The young man looks impressive.”'
Behind Enemy Lines: An Inside Look at the Bills
'I think they are talented enough to be in the conversation for a Wild Card spot, but they are missing some pieces that could get you there, and the biggest is an overall lack of poise. There’s still a little bit of a disconnect between the systems of head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman and their players.'
