'“For a fifth-rounder, to be running the way he has so far this season, I think they got a steal in the draft with him,” Jenkins said. “We know what McCoy brings to the table. He’s one of the most dangerous backs in the league. But then, to bring him in when McCoy’s out, they have a pretty good 1-2 punch there.”'

'"I watched him for two years down in Baltimore give the Baltimore starting defense headaches every day," Spagnuolo said of the former Ravens backup who was mired behind Joe Flacco and ran the scout offense for that team. "Especially on Friday when it was a red zone day. If he tucked it and put it in, he was getting in the end zone. It used to drive those guys nuts."'

'McCoy, the Bills' heralded offseason acquisition in a trade with the Eagles, has been hampered by a hamstring injury that has sapped much of his explosiveness. McCoy has 50 touches through three games out of the backfield, but he is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry, and has scored one touchdown.'

'You can't deny this: Still having Ryan in the NFL, specifically in the AFC East, is good for the entertainment value. It remains to be seen if Ryan has the kind of team that can make it more than a fun side show, but there certainly were some promising signs last week in Miami.'

'"He can throw the ball. That's one thing you can't sleep on this guy about. He definitely can deliver," Hosley said. "He can make those throws that Aaron Rodgers or those top quarterbacks can make."'

'McCoy is sitting out to rest a left hamstring injury that's nagged him since he was hurt Aug. 18. Watkins was sidelined after hurting his right calf in a win at Miami on Sunday.'

After returning to practice Wednesday, Coughlin said he was “a little gimpy.” His status is uncertain for Sunday’s contest in Orchard Park. "We'll see where he is," Coughlin said. "If it's possible and we get to the point where we feel confident that he can do it, then he plays."'

'Darby, who started all three games this month, is the first Bills rookie with at least two interceptions in a season since Jairus Byrd (nine) and Cary Harris (two) accomplished the feat in 2009. The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder is the second Bills cornerback to be named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month. Leodis McKelvin was honored with the award in November 2008.'

'His rise in Buffalo also suggests something else: That he has benefited from the kind of apprenticeship that it would behoove many raw quarterbacks to serve as they enter the NFL.'
