Bills mask concerns with dominant performance
'Chaos and havoc that made it possible to overlook the Bills' own mistakes.'
After Patriots, AFC East is still a trio of zeros
'So there you go, Patriots fans. This will be a fun week as we revisit Rex Ryan’s greatest hits and overinflate the Bills as legitimate contenders in the AFC East. It’ll be nice to finally see a little drama when the Patriots get to Orchard Park.'
Bills coach Rex Ryan still adept at stirring the pot
'The Bills coach couldn’t help himself Monday when he was asked about the Patriots’ success using unknown or unheralded backs to fuel their offense. Dion Lewis, who wasn’t referenced specifically when Ryan was queried by reporters, collected 120 yards from scrimmage, including 69 rushing, in New England’s Week 1 win over the Steelers.'
Lewis won’t take Ryan's bait
'Ryan continued his boisterous ways yesterday during a news conference in Buffalo when asked about Patriots running back Dion Lewis, who had 15 carries for 69 yards and four receptions for 51 yards against the Steelers.'
Patriots-Bills has suddenly become more intriguing
'If Sunday’s win was a statement game by the Bills, who haven’t qualified for the playoffs this century, it wasn’t lost on the team’s fans, who as the clock wound down may have gotten just a tad carried away with the fact that their heroes had just made Andrew Luck look like Johnny Manziel.'
Rex Ryan takes subtle jab at Mike Tannenbaum over media leaks
'Ryan wasn’t happy with the report, and surmised that it was Tannenbaum – fired by the Jets after 2012 and now the Dolphins’ executive VP of Football Operations – that put the information out there.'
Rex Ryan's Bills looking forward to hosting Patriots
'"Great coach, a Hall of Fame quarterback. That's what makes it more difficult than anything else. We don't have to worry about getting our team ready to play. The Patriots, they're the ones you want to beat."'
Patriots use extra prep time to ready for Ryan's Bills
'"He'll always have something you won't see (before)," guard Josh Kline said Monday. "He's a good coach. We just have to be ready for anything."'
Bills' Ryan finally finds Taylor-made QB
'"This guy's got some magic to him with his legs, he's smart, he did a great job. We chose him because we know he belongs."'
5 things you have to know about Bills: Rex Ryan has Buffalo in a frenzy
'Ryan will look to come at Tom Brady through a variety of defensive schemes designed to put as much pressure on the quarterback as possible. More often that most other coaches, Ryan has found a way to discombobulate Brady.'
Rex praises fans and DBs; Graham's status unclear
'Ryan said Graham is still going through the concussion protocol and there’s no indication as of right now if he’ll be able to return to practice this week before the team plays the New England Patriots Sunday in Orchard Park. Graham is the only injury for the team from yesterday’s game. Linebacker Tony Steward (knee) and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (ribs) both sat out with injuries.'
Sal's Monday Bills Review: Arrow Up/Arrow Down
'He might not have incredible numbers, but they were still very good and underscored a terrific debut for the Bills QB. What we saw from Taylor in the preseason is exactly what we saw Sunday. Good decision-making. Smart, accurate throws (14-for-19; 74%), and the athletic ability to make big plays with his legs when called upon. Taylor’s 51-yard touchdown toss to Percy Harvin (his first TD pass in the NFL) was on the money and got his team jump-started after two drives that resulted in punts to start the game. Taylor finished with 195 yards passing and added another 41 rushing. A perfect mix for what the Bills offense needs to keep defenses off-balance just enough.'
Taylor made
'Well after one week and one win, the returns are pretty good. Not great, but definitely trending in the right direction. Taylor looked poised, made accurate throws on time and hit on a couple of big plays. Pretty sweet recipe.'
5 takeaways from Bills HC Rex Ryan
'It was plain to see even from a statistical standpoint, but the film backs up the claim that the offensive line has a ways to go to get to the level they want in run blocking.'
