‘The Bills would put together one more touchdown drive as Kyle Orton led the team down the field completing big passes to Scott Chandler and Sammy Watkins along the way. Orton would then sneak into the end zone from one yard out to give Buffalo a glimmer of hope with 55 seconds left, but a failed onside kick attempt would give the ball back to Denver, and end the game.’

Another missed opportunity
‘To me it’s such a waste the Bills lost this game because Peyton Manning did little to hurt them. You have to win that game if Manning has those stats, but they didn’t. The players in the locker-room said themselves that they shot themselves in the foot all day. It seemed like many times when there was a positive, the players or coaches would do something goofy. This game is just another missed opportunity.’
Some Dogs Don’t Have Their Day
‘Have I mentioned yet that Kyle Orton isn’t any good? No? Well here you go then.’
Observations: Broncos 24 – Bills 17
‘For the fourth time in five weeks, Kyle Orton hindered the offense and prevented the Bills from taking what could have been theirs.’
Game not as close as the final verdict
‘The other questionable decision was made by Doug Marrone with just under six minutes remaining and the Bills trailing by 14 points. On a 4th-and-2 from his own 16, the Bills coach opted to punt rather than go for it. Yes, it would have been incredibly risky to go for it in that situation, but time was not on the Bills side at that point, so they might as well have rolled the dice.’
Immediate Reactions: Denver Broncos 24, Buffalo Bills 17
‘He’s not a man who would accept sympathy, but man (or woman) you have to feel for Fred Jackson. He’s the example of a consummate professional, a throwback running back and a tough son of a gun. And he’s been surrounded by below average coaches and quarterbacks his entire career.’
Broncos Knock Off Bills 24-17
‘The Bills came ready to play early as they had a lot of emotion, energy, and some limited success early. Some very questionable penalties including the one on Robey and a pass interference call on Stephon Gilmore hurt them. Even when they did good things the referees got in their way. Two long inteception returns were negated by questionable penalties. Their failure to take advantage of opportunities to score and poor play in the kicking game didn’t help. You can overcome all these things if you are an elite team, the Bills aren’t but the team they lost to is and that is why the Bills limp home with their playoff hopes dangling for dear life.’
Not Enough Firepower To Pull Off Upset
‘Kyle Orton made a boneheaded play on a 3rd and 1 early in the 2nd quarter when he slid down for a one yard sack when he had a chance to dive forward for a first down. The Bills were forced to settle for a field goal. He kept checking down to the short passes before throwing downfield a lot in the fourth quarter in garbage time.’
Bills late comeback falls short in Denver
‘Da’Norris Searcy left the game with a hamstring injury in the first half and did not return.
Corey Graham’s takeaway day shrouded in loss
‘”Yeah it’s frustrating,” CB Corey Graham said. “You obviously want to get points whenever you can. I was trying my best to get there. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to score points but you just have to keep playing.”‘
What they’re saying: Broncos 24, Bills 17
‘”That is something we harp on every week, and that is something we got to get better at in the red zone and putting points on the board. I think we get aggressive in the second half and we start moving the ball, being aggressive. We just need to change our whole approach in the first half, first quarter, and how we approach the game. I think once we get that killer-instinct mindset to go down field no matter what, no matter who we’re playing, we’ll be a great offense.”‘
Manning ñ taking a back seat to no one
‘In many ways, Osweiler has the NFL’s best vantage point. That’s not because he’s a skosh under 6 foot 8 and has a great view of Manning every week from the sideline. Osweiler also gets to examine game film, work out, practice and attend meetings with an NFL icon.’
Manning just a part of the test
‘Broncos 29, Bills 18.’
Bills finally hit a December with something on the line
‘So yeah, I guess you could say today is big. It’s the first time they’ve entered December with a winning record since 2000, when Bill Clinton was still in the White House. It’s a meaningful game in December. Enjoy it while you can.’
Can Bills slow down Manning?
‘Broncos 30, Bills 20.’
