‘The Bills had plenty of chances to put the Chiefs away early, but three times they had to settle for field goals once they made it into Chiefs territory. In four trips to the red zone, the Bills had six points.’

‘I can’t fault Doug Marrone for the fumbles. However, he was extremely conservative once again. The Bills kicked a field goal on fourth-and-two at the Kansas City 3-yard line, and later punted on fourth-and-one at their own 41. Buffalo was also atrocious in the red zone, especially on the second-to-last possession. The defense was caught unprepared on Kansas City’s touchdown on fourth down.’

‘If the Bills want to make the playoffs, they need to solve their red zone woes. This was a game they should’ve won. The defense was up to the task. But the offense failed. You can point to other plays in the game, such as Leodis McKelvin’s fumble in the fourth quarter, but it was the offense’s weak play throughout the day which was the biggest reason why Buffalo lost this game.’

‘”At the end of the day, we didn’t make enough plays to win,” Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams said. “(There are) a lot of things we have to correct and we have a short week coming up. (It is a) division game, another AFC game, (against) a team that’s playing well, so we have to go in and get it corrected and get ready to go.”‘

‘So it figured to come down to which team could better take advantage of those precious opportunities to score, which the Bills didn’t do often enough. And which team would avoid the killer turnover. The Bills didn’t do that, either.’

‘The absence of C.J. Spiller and the limitations of a still-healing Fred Jackson caught up with the Bills on Sunday. They simply couldn’t force the Chiefs to defend the whole field.’
