‘ The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has signed G William Campbell and DT Jeremy Towns to the team’s Practice Squad.’

‘With the season just about one-third complete, it’s safe to say concerns about Jim Schwartz replacing Mike Pettine as Buffalo’s Defensive Coordinator were misplaced. Buffalo’s defense finished 10th in yardage allowed in 2013. So far this, the Bills are 8th in the league in 2014.”

‘”After we lost to them in preseason you could see the disappointment on his face in the lockerroom,” Dareus said of that 23-0 defeat. “He still has family (in Detroit) and he wanted his son to go to school (Monday) and be happy (because the Bills won) and not have people messing with him. “This meant more to him than just a regular game. We all just took it upon ourselves to go out and do the best we could (for him).”‘

‘Marrone said Sunday that Carpenter “was fired up” about the laser distraction, and said that that helped motivate him to make his game-winning 58-yard field goal with four seconds left.’

‘Charles, 26, fits the mold of a “hidden gem.” The Bills acquired him midway through last season when they plucked him off the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad.’

‘In his fifth NFL season, Spiller still has a tendency to break runs outside, rather than pound them inside for small, respectable gains. He has nine negative runs this year.’

‘”I’ve been on the other side,” Carpenter said on Monday. “I’ve had an 0-for-4 game as much as I don’t want to admit it. Unfortunately, it’s something that happens. Obviously Alex is a good kicker. He’s proven that, he’s been in the league a few years now. It’s one of those things that nobody ever wants to go through, but once it’s over all you can do is look forward to the next kick. You’re only as good as your next kick whether you missed the last one or made the last one. Just because I made a game-winner this week doesn’t mean that the next one’s going to be any easier.”‘

‘Kyle Williams was a huge absence for the Bills in Week 5, but Stefan Charles stepped in nicely on the middle of the Bills’ defensive line. With the Lions driving to try to take the lead, Charles made a key stop on third down, one of three big stops he made around the line of scrimmage in the game. Charles isn’t quite the pass rusher Williams is, but he provided a lot in run support on Sunday. Not bad for his first crack at replacing Williams.’

‘A fan using the account @MarkoBeslach tweeted that he used a green laser pointer and got Bills quarterback Kyle Orton to complain to the officials about it.’
