‘Spiller, who also was taken to the locker room on a cart, could miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone. He was in tears when he left the field.’

Bills Edge Vikings 17-16
‘After a stagnant performance throughout the entire fourth quarter, the Bills offense finally awoke on the final drive, completing a 4th and 20 to Scott Chandler and an oustanding completion to Chris Hogan at the two yard line. Those plays set up a sideline end zone pass to Sammy Watkins for his second TD of the game, including the game winner.’
Observations: Bills 17 – Vikings 16
‘As one rookie shined, another was the worst player on the field between both the Bills and the Vikings. Fifth-round draft pick and left guard Cyril Richardson has struggled since being inserted into the lineup for the injured Chris Williams, and might have had his worst game of his young career against the Minnesota Vikings.’
Survive And Advance
‘These really are the worst kinds of games for fans to sink their teeth into. We’re pretty sure Minnesota isn’t that good so beating them doesn’t impress that much. Because of that, if the Bills had lost this game it would have been open season on just about everyone from Doug Marrone to the kickoff specialist.’
The Bills use Watkins and they win
‘As bad as the Bills played, they left the stadium 4-3. It doesn’t matter if they won 40-0 or played as sloppy as possible and won 17-16, the record is still 4-3. Two bad performances doesn’t change the fact the the season is still out there for them. Coming up are games against the Jets, Kansas City, Miami, the Jets and Cleveland. If they somehow overcome the coaching and the undisciplined play, they could be in great shape heading into Denver on December 7.’
Bills get miraculous win
‘This was a text book definition of an ugly win but it still counts in the standings no matter how bad it was. On paper, this looked to be the easiest game left on the Bills schedule and yet they were seconds away from a third straight defeat at home. If the Bills are to contend for a playoff spot, they had to have this game as they are in the “soft” part of their schedule. If you go by current records, the Bills don’t face a team with a winning record until Denver on December 7th in week 14.’
Orton’s heroics save Bills season
‘COACHING: Can cut them some slack because of the losses of Jackson and Spiller, but there are times when Hackett is way too predictable and way too conservative. Jim Schwartz’s unit looked lame against the run, yielding 103 yards to rookie Jerick McKinnon. In his post-game press conference, Marrone sounded as if he had lost the game. He’s right when he says there’s a ton of work to do. C.’
Immediate Reactions: Buffalo Bills 17, Minnesota Vikings 16
‘Watkins was back to his super self. He’s just that sort of athlete you look at and marvel, as if to say, “They make people like this?” He’s like an alien.’
Bills Pull Out 17-16 Win Over Vikings
Kyle Orton hit Sammy Watkins for a two yard touchdown pass with :01 left to lift the Bills to a 17-16 win over the Vikings at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Orton hit Chris Hogan for a 28 yard catch to the two as the clock was running out. Earlier in the drive Orton found Scott Chandler on 4th and 20 to keep the drive alive. Orton also hit Watkins for a 26 yard touchdown to give the Bills a short lived 7-3 lead in the first half. Blair Walsh hit field goals from 40, 55, and 33 yards that gave the Vikings the edge most of the way until the Bills final drive.
Bills get one point win with one tick on the clock
‘The Bills offense waited until the waning moments to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat Sunday. With one second remaining Kyle Orton found Sammy Watkins on the left sideline for a two-yard touchdown catch. Dan Carpenter’s extra point lifted Buffalo to a 17-16 win.’
Sammy Watkins dominant in win over Vikings
‘”I was just out there playing,” he said. “We just look at film, watch those guys and see what they do. I think we had a great plan. We just executed on offense and we took advantage of what they were giving us.”‘
Bills lose Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller to injury
‘Both Jackson and Spiller were visibly upset as they were driven off the field. Jackson was holding his head in his right hand, while Spiller put his hand over his face with a towel draped over his head.’
What they’re saying: Bills react to the win over the Vikings
‘We’ve just got to get better, I think everybody did a better job this week of getting right to work, being focused, being ready to go on Wednesday. Obviously we didn’t hang on to the football like we wanted to, but I thought from an execution standpoint we did some good things. Any time you’ve got a young team and a young offense you’re going to have some growing pains. We’re going to continue to get better and continue to win games.’
Fred Jackson suffers groin injury, leaves Vikings game
‘On what appeared to be a harmless carry off the right side on a 3rd-and-1 near the end of the third quarter, Jackson fell and reached for his right groin area.’
Van Miller honored as 29th member of Bills Wall of Fame
‘Seeing my name on the Wall of Fame next to football giants leaves me more than humbled; thank you to the entire Bills organization for this tremendous privilege.”‘
