‘Nothing with Watkins went as planned, and not a whole lot else did for the Bills this preseason. It is just the preseason, and the games don’t count, but Marrone would have preferred to see fewer penalties from his time, more consistency at quarterback and maybe a few more wins.’

‘To be fair, Palmer had only a few days to prepare for the game Thursday, but the result was ugly. Palmer was intercepted three times and completed only nine of his 22 passes for 73 yards. Jeff Tuel didn’t take a single snap, so Palmer isn’t likely to pass him on the depth chart anytime soon.’

‘With an offensive line more fragile than its quarterback, what good could have come from starting Manuel and company other than to soothe the sore feelings of being booed off the field five days earlier at half-time of a game that they trailed 24-0? A meaningless touchdown drive against a Lions defence resting most of its starters, including hulking tackle Ndamukong Suh? Hardly.”
