‘Five drives, no touchdowns. Heck, let’s take it a step farther. Three games, 10 total drives, no touchdowns.’

Bills’ starters take a step backward in Pittsburgh
‘EJ Manuel sputtered at times again. Top draft pick Sammy Watkins got hurt. The first-string defense was beaten on two long touchdown strikes.’
Watkins suffers bruised ribs
‘The fourth overall draft choice had trouble walking off the field, was examined on the sideline and then went to the locker room for a more thorough evaluation.’
Poloncarz right on NFL pushback
‘It would be easy for him to curl into the fetal position in the face of the NFL juggernaut. By standing tall, I think Poloncarz isn’t just forcing the NFL bullies to prove their case. I think he’s watching taxpayers’ backs, in a way that will help to keep the team in town.’
Backers of outer harbor stadium talking to potential Bills owners
‘George Hasiotis, a partner with Greater Buffalo Sports and Entertainment Complex LLC, declined to identify the bidders, describing those contacts as confidential. But he said the group has connected with potential franchise bidders as well as other parties more interested in just the proposed complex.’
Wilson, Kalsu to be honored at naval park waterfront party
‘Wilson, the late Buffalo Bills owner, and Kalsu, who played one season with the Bills in 1968, will be inducted onto the park’s Wall of Honor. Wilson served in the Navy in World War II from 1941 to 1945. Kalsu was killed in action on July 21, 1970, while serving in the Army in Vietnam.’
Erin Kelly’s Fan Journal: The ëhaters’ should be forgiven
‘Unfortunately, I’ve found myself in stunned disbelief at the sheer evil of words used to inflict pain upon a family that has endured some of the worst trials life can throw at it.’
EJ Manuel, starters fail to find the end zone in 19-16 loss
‘”We have to attack more,” wide receiver Robert Woods said. “We have to score on our first drive. It’s always good to get points, but when you have the opportunity to get six, we need to capitalize on that. We have to make the plays and finish our drives.”‘
Sammy Watkins injury throws a scare into Bills players
‘Watkins was slow to get up and made his way gingerly to the sideline while holding his ribs. He immediately took off his helmet and was being evaluated by trainers. Moments later, the trainers walked Watkins back to the locker room to evaluate his ribs.’
Alan Branch could be in danger of not making Bills final roster
‘To put it lightly, Branch hasn’t been having a strong preseason. After receiving a three-year contract extension with a $3.1 million signing bonus after the 2013 season, Branch reported to camp out of shape and failed his conditioning test. Since, he hasn’t gotten to play with the first or even second-team defense much at all. He’s been stuck on the third team and isn’t making enough plays to move up the depth chart.’
EJ Manuel misses Sammy Watkins, and 5 observations from Bills-Steelers preseason game
‘Sammy Watkins went down with an injury early in the game on Saturday, so Robert Woods got his chance at extended time with the Bills’ first-team offense. He made the most of it, catching three passes on six targets for 49 yards. The Bills’ wide receiver depth chart is crowded, but Manuel obviously has a lot of faith in Woods, so that should help the second-year receiver get his share of reps.’
E.J. Manuel, Fred Jackson solid, but first team offense doesn’t score touchdown in 19-16 loss
‘But Manuel is making progress. He may have made a few bad plays Saturday night, but he had a decent number of good throws. He was efficient in the short passing game and completed a few deeper throws. That’s a good thing. But he needs to find a way to get his team in the end zone.’
