Bills sign safety as teams chase after free agents
‘The Canisius product signing with the Bills is Getzville native Jimmy Gaines.’
ëToo iffy’ seems consensus on Watkins’ deal
‘Did the Bills have a good draft? Opinions were mixed among draft analysts, most of whom hedged their verdict and acknowledged the big deal might work. Here’s a summary of opinions…’.
Milstein not interested in owning Bills but wants to help keep team here
‘”We are prepared to put substantial personal and business resources behind that effort, including our land in Niagara Falls, but this does not include participating in the sales process or making a bid to purchase the team,” Milstein said in a written statement provided to The News.’
Have Bills lowered their standards?
‘Clearly, Williams and Henderson are one more screw-up from being ex-Bills. And at the cost of a sixth- and seventh-round draft choice, the investment is relatively small. Still, it’s worth wondering whether the standards of the Polian/Butler/Levy triumvirate no longer exist for the Bills.’
Banker Howard Milstein pulls out of Bills sweepstakes
‘Based in New York City, Milstein’s ties to Western New York include owning a 142-acre parcel of developable land in Niagara Falls, adjacent to Seneca Niagara Casino, thus just blocks from the falls.’
Developer Milstein won’t bid for Buffalo Bills
‘Milstein controls an undeveloped 142-acre plot of land in downtown Niagara Falls that has been mentioned as a potential site for a new Bills stadium.’
Bills release RB Allen
‘Allen, 25, had 19 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown between the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was signed as a future free agent on Jan. 14.’
Firm begins looking for stadium sites for the Bills
‘In the next few months they’ll visit approximately a dozen sites before narrowing it down.’
Milstein will not buy the Bills
‘Milstein has quite a bit of land he’s purchased in Niagara Falls and would like to use it as a possible site for a new stadium.’
Whaley Wheels And Deals During The Draft
or better or worse the team was aggressive. Many say that they gave up too much to get Watkins when there was very good value at the receiver position without giving up next year’s one. The bottom line is the way they always did things is not working so you have to give them credit for trying to do it differently. Russ Brandon and company realized that and went for it all during this draft. Let’s hope they succeeded or else there will be many more dark days for Bills football. The gambles they took in trades and players with question marks are huge, but if they come through this team could finally end the 14 year long playoff drought and see brighter days in Western New York.
Whaley’s decisive deal making
‘”My whole job for 11 years in Pittsburgh was the trade phone in the draft room so I have a base of knowledge of what is right and what is equitable and what’s not,” Whaley told Buffalobills.com. “I’ll have (Senior VP of Football Administration) Jim (Overdorf) check the trade chart if I’m not sure, but in most instances it’s a gut feeling based on past experience.”‘
RB Anthony Allen released
‘He was signed as a future free agent on Jan. 14.’
5 things you need to know about Bryce Brown
‘Playing most of the season in the shadow of Eagles RB LeSean McCoy, Brown made news in 2012 when he started for the injured McCoy and ran for over 100 yards in two consecutive games. He rushed for an Eagles single-game rookie record with 178 yards and two touchdowns versus Carolina, and then built on that the following week with 169 yards and another two touchdowns. After just those two starts, he had two of the top 15 rushing performances in Eagles history, and became the 5th NFL rookie since 1960 to have back-to-back 165 yard rushing outputs.’
