‘National Guard Soldiers will unfurl a giant American flag across the field during the opening ceremony when the Bills host the Jets on Sunday. The soldiers will reaffirm their oath during a halftime ceremony.’

‘In their last game, the Jets gave EJ Manuel many looks from a defense that he had never seen before and the rookie panicked. With the amount of defensive play calls Rex Ryan has up his sleeve, that could be a trend that continues on Sunday as well. Manuel will be shorthanded without both Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods, but the defense will surely keep the Bills in the game and maybe even put them in a position to win. However, with the Jets being such a solid run defense and with their offense showing signs of life (in the running game, at least), it might be too much for Buffalo to overcome this weekend. This should be a tight game all the way through.’

‘”I think the good thing about him is there’s nothing that he hasn’t seen, because he played the game for awhile,” said Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams. “He understands there’s things that happen in a game that you just have to work through. Sometimes if you get a guy who never played or hasn’t been around it a long time, maybe there’s not that understanding.”‘

””You just try and stick with your technique and form,” he said. “If the wind blows it after you drop it, there’s nothing you can do. You try to make the best kick you can, and if it doesn’t work out you have to move onto the next one. You can’t control it. You hope the next time it doesn’t move on you. I check the weather all the time, I look at the wind, all that stuff, but I know deep down you can’t change it.”‘

‘Asked about Manuel’s tough goings, Jets linebacker Demario Davis said: “Our job is just to go out and play solid. We want to go out and stop the run. They’ve got good running backs, good weapons and they’ve got a talented quarterback. We have to play good, efficient football.”‘

‘”He’s done a phenomenal job against arguably one of the best players in the league at his position in Williams,” Rex Ryan said of Howard. “He did it last year, too. Everybody thought (Williams) was getting doubled. No, he was getting doubled by (Howard’s) left arm and right arm. He’s just a big, athletic guy and he matches well against almost anybody. He’s another young player that’s ascending.”‘

‘”But we feel like we have the ability to stop them. We feel like we have the ability to execute and have success. We feel like we have the talent and ability to be good matchups with those guys.”’

‘”To have one of our most respected guys we have on this team say something like that in the middle of the game meant the world to me,” Nelson said. “That’s exactly what I was trying to do – make a statement to this team that I’m not here trying to just pass through or be this guy who’s relying on what I did back in Buffalo. I want to contribute to this team and be part of the heart of this team.”‘
