Jets’ defense puts a lot on the line for Bills
‘Entering Sunday’s rematch at Ralph Wilson Stadium, New York is allowing 73.8 rushing yards a game, a total that not only leads the league this year but would stand as the 10th lowest figure in the last 30 NFL seasons.’
Beating Jets, Smith would help Manuel measure up
‘We won’t know if he’s a franchise player for another year or two. But if he wants to chase off the vultures, he needs to show progress over the final six games.’
Bills lose Woods and maybe Johnson; Jets WR Kerley to sit
‘Bills coach Doug Marrone said rookie receiver Robert Woods will miss his second straight game this week due to a high ankle sprain. Receiver Stevie Johnson was not able to practice Wednesday due to a strained groin he suffered in Sunday’s loss at Pittsburgh. Marrone said Johnson’s status for Sunday is uncertain.’
Buffalo Bills’ C.J. Spiller continues to struggle
‘”I just go into the game when I’m told to go into the game,” Spiller said Wednesday, declining an opportunity to speak out about his somewhat surprising lack of use. “I’m just frustrated that we’re on a three-game losing streak. I’m not frustrated with the amount of touches, I’m just sick and tired of the losing.”‘
Team practices in the cold
‘Like I told the players, feet, hands and head, keep that stuff warm and you’re in good shape,” he said. He then went on to explain why the team was outside on such a blustery day. “When we play at home, and with the wind and weather, I like to practice outside,” he said. “The only way we wouldn’t is if it became a situation where you couldn’t really get a lot out of it.”‘

Bills RB Spiller not concerned over playing time
‘”I’m just frustrated that we’re on a three-game losing streak,” Spiller said. “I’m not frustrated with the amount that I’ve touched. I’m just sick and tired of the losing.”‘
Bills will be without Woods Sunday, Johnson doesn’t practice
”Woods is dealing with a high ankle sprain and it appears the Bills are opting to rest him with a bye week following their upcoming contest. He missed the team’s game against the Steelers with the injury.’
Run game eager to rebound
‘”Did we run the ball like we wanted to? Absolutely not,” said Marrone. “I don’t think you need to be a genius to figure that out. How come? Why not? Very simple-it always starts with up front, because I’m an offensive line coach. We could have done a better job up front.”‘
Spiller anxious to get back on track
‘”You just have to take what they give you,” said Spiller. “I think they game planned last time we played them where they wanted me to bounce a lot of stuff (outside). I’m going to do a good job of going back and studying that game and see what they did to try to do a great job of containing me and see what I can do differently.”‘
Doug Marrone on Jets DL: ”Our biggest challenge to date”
‘With EJ, and I think people have to understand that having lost those four weeks has hurt him. He’s really coming on. If you look at it, and to put things in perspective and I think it’s important, everyone knows he’s our starting quarterback, there’s no problem there and I’ve been questioned on it before so I’m going to use your question to answer a couple things.’
C.J. Spiller: ”If you’re not hungry, I don’t want to play with you”
‘I’m just frustrated that we’re on the three game losing streak. I’m not frustrated with the amount that I touch. I’m just sick and tired of the losing.”‘
