‘rnovers and penalties continue to haunt the banged-up, youthful Bills. In addition to giving the Chiefs 17 points, Buffalo hurt itself again with crucial penalties, including a block-in-the-back call against Nigel Bradham that negated an 89-yard punt return for touchdown by Leodis McKelvin.’

QB Tuel to start for Bills vs. Chiefs
‘Tuel was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State following April’s draft. He struggled in his regular-season debut in Week 5 after EJ Manuel was injured, and will make his first career start against the Chiefs, who lead the league with 36 sacks.’
Bills turn ball over 3 times; fall to Chiefs at home
‘Starting the final frame, things simply fell apart for the Bills.’
Bills game was all about what if?
‘As opposed to most people on twitter, I didn’t have a problem with a pass play being called, a play where Stevie Johnson was wide open in the back of the end zone. I had a bigger problem with the two run calls that preceded the interception.’
Sideline Reactions: Chiefs 23 – Bills 13
‘Despite the result, the Buffalo Bills had the perfect game plan for the Kansas City Chiefs. They took away Jamaal Charles in the passing game, they took away Dexter McCluster in the slot for the most part and forced the Chiefs defense to have to beat them. They were on the verge of taking down the last undefeated team in the NFL with the gain of a single yard.’
Turnovers wash away solid effort
‘Bills Head Coach Doug Marrone couldn’t control his frustration following Sunday’s 23-13 loss to the now 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs. “I’m going to go home, not talk to anybody, just shut it down.”, said Marrone. “I’m going to be by myself, I’m not going to pet my dog and I’m going to get fired up”, Marrone continued. It was that type of loss for the Buffalo Bills.’
I Feel For The Bills
‘Clearly, if Spiller had been even 80 percent of what he was last season when he averaged six yards a crack, the Bills chances of winning some of these close ones would have been greatly enhanced.’
Immediate reactions: Chiefs 23, Bills 13
‘At some point, Jairus Byrd may want to start hoping for a franchise tag, because his play is costing him money. He took a boneheaded penalty for hitting a defenseless receiver when the bird’s eye view showed he had an unrivaled route to an interception of an overthrown Alex Smith pass. He has not been very good in 2013. Maybe it’s plantar fasciitis, but in that case he shouldn’t be out there.’
Chiefs Remain Undefeated 23-13 Over Bills
‘The Chiefs did what they have done all year. They played opportunistic football, got all the breaks, and beat a team playing a backup quarterback. The Bills played inspired at times and showed some good things. They believed in Tuel and it showed with a fairly open game plan and that was their downfall. You don’t be any undefeated teams by giving up two touchdowns on offense. In fact you don’t beat many winless teams that way either. It’s another lesson learned by a young, growing, hobbled team.’
Defense Plays Well In Loss
‘A few nice plays but too many drops.’
Bills can’t protect the ball in loss to Chiefs
‘With a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start against the number one defense in the league in points allowed, sacks and third down Buffalo had a shot at handing the 8-0 Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season. For the second straight week turnovers proved costly all three of Buffalo’s turnovers led to 17 points for the Chiefs in a 23-13 win over the Bills.’
Doug Marrone: ”This one hurts”
‘This one hurts. I’m not going to stand here and say we should’ve won the game because obviously we didn’t, but it hurt and I think the swing, everyone knows the point in the game was that drive coming out of half. We went right down the field, C.J. (Spiller) did a nice job, made a great run and we get down there and we don’t punch it in on goal line.’
C.J. Spiller: ”We still lost and that’s all that matters”
‘To me, I don’t get caught up in the stats. It’s a great day to run the ball as well as we did today against a good team. They’re 9-0 for a reason. At the end of the day, we still lost and that’s all that matters.’
Jeff Tuel: ”It’s 100 percent on me”
‘It’s very frustrating, especially to come out in the second half. First big play was C.J. (Spiller), put a drive together, get right down there and then literally a complete other direction. Like you said it’s just a huge momentum shift. Just something that I could’ve prevented from happening.’
