‘Offensive coordinator Nate Hackeet appeared on target early on trying to establish a short passing game for Tuel. Unfortunately, with his team behind, they may have abandoned the running game too early in the fourth quarter.’

‘The opportunities were there throughout the game for the Bills. The problem was the same one that has appeared throughout this 14-season run of futility; they just weren’t capable of converting.’

‘”When it’s time to make the plays you have to make the plays and we didn’t do that,” said Bills head coach Doug Marrone. “It hurts because we’ve got great fans, great people, guys plays hard. We work hard as coaches and you get on that field and this one hurts.”‘

‘While the Chiefs won the game, this was more about the Bills losing it.’

‘”We’re a good football team that is not making the plays that we have to make,” Marrone said. “We play extremely hard, we fight through adversity, but we’re just not making the plays at the times that we need to make (them). And that’s everybody.”‘

‘Kansas City’s opportunistic defense made up for its own deficiencies as well as an Alex Smith-led offense that managed just 210 yards. Buffalo (3-6) had a season-best 470 yards of offense.’
