‘”He bumped his knee and he’ll be day-to-day,” Head Coach Doug Marrone said after practice, indicating that he did not consider it to be serious.’

Bills sign another speedy wide receiver
‘Sinkfield has been out of a job since the Packers released him just prior to training camp on July 19. The wide receiver hails from Northern Iowa, and ran a blazing 40-yard dash time of 4.19 seconds to at least one stopwatch at the University of Minnesota pro day.’
Bills provide updates on Stevie, Caussin
‘”He’s going to be out for a while. We’re going to make sure we work hard to get him back as soon as we possibly can,” he said. “He’s going to be out for a while and what I mean by a while is it’s going to be at least a week and after that I’ll probably come out with something and see where we are by then.”‘
Day 6 practice notes
‘With the live scrimmage scheduled for Monday night’s practice at St. John Fisher College, Head Coach Doug Marrone attempted to ready his team for the physical aspects of that day by going live for 15 straight plays to end practice.’
Stevie Johnson out at least a week
‘”He’s going to be out for a while,” said head coach Doug Marrone. “We’re going to make sure we don’t work hard to get him back as fast as we possibly can. So he’s going to be out for a while and what I mean by a while, at least a week and then after that I’ll probably come out with something (new) and see where we are by then.”‘
Speedster WR Terrell Sinkfield signed by Bills
‘Sinkfield entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins following the 2013 NFL Draft and was released on May 28th. He then joined the Green Bay Packers on June 11th before being released on July 19th. The 6-0, 200-pound Northern Iowa product tallied 43 catches for 499 yards and four touchdowns in 10 starts as a senior in 2012. He totaled 76 receptions for 1,097 yards and 10 touchdowns in his collegiate career. Sinkfield will wear No. 86.’
Doug Marrone: ”One thing we have to do is be consistent”
‘Obviously today was our first time with the players having live contact and I was very pleased with that. We had a short-yardage session of it, a goal-line session of it and a four-minute session of it. Again, it’s always good to play or practice like we’re going to play. At times, the offense got on a roll. Sometimes the defense got on a roll. So it was good work against each other. One thing we have to do is be consistent, be ready to go right out from the snap on both sides of the ball. Obviously with Kevin [Kolb], Kevin slipped on his way transferring from field to field. He bumped his knee and he’ll just be day by day.’
Stevie Johnson: ”I’ll be ready to go”
‘It has happened every training camp. Every training camp I’ve had an injury but working with the guys they’ve always got me out there for Week One and for the rest of the season. Hopefully it is the same thing, just something that affects me for this amount of time and then when the season comes, I’ll be ready to go.’
Practice Notes – Aug. 3rd
‘Saturday’s practice brought out the first live contact of camp with short yardage and goal line work a focus at Bills training camp. After the defense had been controlling more of the play through the 11-on-11 team periods, the offense looked inspired after head coach Doug Marrone stepped into the huddle in between plays.’
Bills’ Manuel impressing as he learns to be NFL QB
‘”No, he doesn’t have that look in his eye at all,” Kolb said. “The thing I like about him is he doesn’t have pride as far as when he doesn’t know something, he asks the question. A lot of times players don’t do that because they want to look smarter than they are. He’s not afraid to put himself out there and be vulnerable and that’s how you learn fast and get better. I commend him for that.”‘
Brad Smith takes paycut with Bills, Stevie Johnson injures hamstring
”He had been scheduled to make $2.75 million this year and $3 million next year, numbers that would take some serious in-field convincing for the Bills to keep him. Although Smith provides stellar core-four special-teams support, his role as a receiver is pedestrian. But his base salaries are now $1.625 million this year and $1.4 million next year.’
Goin’ deep
‘an Kevin Kolb had his best day of camp, looking especially sharp in the red zone. Manuel took 30 snaps, Kolb 29 and Jeff Tuel eight.’
Healthy Troup eager to get back with Bills
‘Troup reported to training camp as healthy as he’s been post-injury – which first occurred in the final game of the 2011 preseason – and he believes he’s finally in a position to be a prime contributor to the Bills defense.’
Bills’ Stevie Johnson helped off the field during training camp
‘”He’s going to get evaluated, and it’s always tough when those situations happen,” said coach Doug Marrone, who also announced that tight end Mike Caussin left practice with a hip injury. “It would be a major concern if we were talking about it during the season. Right now, a veteran player who has proved himself, we’ll just see what the doctors say, it is what it is and we’ll deal with it from there.”‘
Johnson’s pulled hamstring a real pain for Bills
‘Johnson hasn’t missed a game in the past three seasons despite a variety of aches and pains and underwent groin surgery last off-season. Last spring he played through a sore back. He is the team’s only established receiver and has had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and is expected to be an integral part of new offensive co-ordinator Nathaniel Hackett’s up-tempo system.’
