‘A sore foot does not sound like a serious injury, but Marrone and his defensive staff will wait the results of the exam by the team’s medical staff. Marrone said Williams would be evaluated.’

Bills sign OL Antoine Caldwell, Tony Hills
‘Caldwell, a former third-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2009, appeared in 40 games for Houston in his four NFL seasons lining up mainly at guard. He has made 19 starts in his NFL career.’
Practice Notes – July 28th
‘”We came out and we all said we’re going to run go-routes to set the tone-we are a different team, different receiving corps,” said Graham. “We got speed to show, and we wanted to show it.”‘
Doug Marrone: ”We’ll get better each day”
‘For me to come back and to say “Hey, they’re gonna come in here and go 110-percent,” it wouldn’t be right for me to expect that out of them. We’ve had two days; we’ve been sitting around all day, getting out here. Finally to get out here, now we’ll get in to a good program with a lot of structure. We’ll get used to it, start going out and we’ll get better each day.’
Stevie Johnson: ”It’s pretty much us against the world”
‘They challenged us and we’ve just been challenging the DBs and it’s fun. You got to make it fun and compete with each other. We’re out there talking trash and getting stuff going because it is pretty much us against the world and that’s how we feel right now. So we go out there and compete with each other and then take on the world when the season starts.’
What to expect at Camp Marrone
‘”We went up to Fort Drum military base about an hour from Canada in Watertown, New York last year,” Chibane said. “We were there last year for a little over a week for camp and it was kind of like a boot camp. We were woken up by drill sergeants a couple of days. It was the whole deal, pretty legit.”‘
Will EJ Manuel start right away?
‘”It’s two things really. It’s obviously the footwork and understanding what’s going on with the defense,” said offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. “Understanding the offense and understanding how that offense fits with the defense. Obviously we see multiple, multiple looks from (defensive coordinator Mike) Pettine. There are all kinds of things that we’ll face. So for a rookie quarterback to go in with a new system understanding how he’s going to utilize his footwork and then give him one million different looks, there’s a way that he just has to understand how everything fits.’
Pass-rushing help high on Bills’ checklist
‘Williams led the Bills with 10.5 sacks last season. None of the team’s other edge rushers have proven they can effectively get sacks in the NFL.’
Bills have nothing to lose with EJ Manuel at QB
‘Doug Marrone can talk all he wants about quarterback competitions and players separating themselves from the pack and finding the guy who gives the Bills the best chance to win. It’s a nice spin for public consumption, but he shouldn’t be messing around with Kevin Kolb or any other passers during training camp.’
Scott, Shuler first two cuts of camp
‘Said coach Doug Marrone of Scott: “That’s just unfortunate in this profession. We have expectations as coaches coming in and we didn’t feel that Chris fulfilled his expectation to us, to his teammates or the coaches. So we let him go.”‘
Buffalo Bills return to Fisher with renewed optimism
‘”We recognize the past, but we’re concentrating on the future,” Whaley said.’
Buffalo Bills seek to end postseason drought
‘Not that St. John Fisher is to blame for this, but since the Bills began training there in 2000 they have not qualified for the postseason, a run of futility currently unmatched in the NFL.’
Buffalo Bills to unveil new-look defense
‘The Bills haven’t stopped anybody the past three years, ranking near the bottom of the NFL in most of the key defensive categories, and establishing all-time team futility marks in the process.’
Buffalo Bills need to make EJ Manuel their starting quarterback
‘It’s EJ Manuel’s show now. And the sooner the better.’
Bills set to open training camp minus S Byrd
‘Whaley says Byrd will be welcomed with ”open arms” once he reports.’
