‘”When you look at it from a standpoint of reps … there’s just not enough reps to really do a good job evaluating,” Marrone said of a three-way competition. “I think it’ll be a lot clearer for all of us, or especially for myself as a coach, with the amount of reps that Kevin and EJ will get. … If you’re going around and you’re giving three players reps, it’s tough to keep track of that, honestly. And we keep track of everything.”‘

Legursky quickly moves into action
‘”It feels good after spending so much time in free agency and not on a squad to have a team that wanted me to be a part of their organization and trusted me to come in here and take some pretty quality snaps,” Legursky said. “Coming to a new organization, I have to prove everything again, and I’m fine doing that.”‘

Doug Marrone hopes to light up scoreboard, fans
‘”I know what it’s like to have your team not do well. I know what it’s like to say, ‘Hey, do I want to wear this Bills shirt today? Or do I not want to (be mocked) when I walk around?'”‘
Marrone called 3 a crowd in Bills QB competition
”’The more reps you give them, I think it’s going to be easier to tell it apart,” Marrone said, a day after the team released veteran backup Tarvaris Jackson. ”I believe that we’ll be able to see it at training camp. I think the players on the team are going to be able to see that separation. And that’s the most important thing.”’

Minus Jackson, Bills QBs get in to flow of competition
‘”I think it’s very difficult in what we’re trying to accomplish when we’re trying to get a starting quarterback in that competition. Doug Marrone: ”I’m excited about this type of effort”
‘I think it’s very difficult in what we’re trying to accomplish, when we’re trying to get a starting quarterback and that competition. When you look at it from a standpoint of reps, I mentioned that last week, it’s just not enough reps to really do a good job evaluating. And so we made a decision and I think its tough decisions that are made. And we made a decision to go with the three quarterbacks in the competition out there right now. I think it’ll be a lot clearer for all of us, especially for myself as a coach, obviously with the amount of reps now that Kevin (Kolb) and EJ (Manuel) will get. I think at the same time, I think it’s important, it’s a very tough profession and you want to give people opportunities and I think that we really appreciate the job that Tarvaris did while he was here and how hard he worked and he was improving. Now he has an opportunity to catch on with another team and I think that’s important. He deserves that.’
Player personnel chief Jim Monos set to grind
‘”We were really proud of our (draft) record,” said Monos. “Coach Marrone was there and was part of some of those drafts as well. It’s that hard work element of it where we’re out there at pro days and hitting every single thing we could up until the draft to know as much as we could about those players.”‘
Bills new scouting director equipped to find winners
‘”It helps me (now),” Fisher said. “It really helps me. When I started (scouting) doing BLESTO you would meet with the players before they became stars, their junior year going into their senior year. It would give me a good read on the kids then and even now at the NFL Combine it’s a good read. Being around them and looking at their bio and family structure you can see some of the things that make me go, ‘Uh oh, we may want to watch out.'”‘
